"Conservatives want to take their country back. Liberals want to take their country forward." |
|
Who said this? It's close to a quote, but I can't remember where I heard it.

... I posted an OP which was an open letter to the GOP, entitled "A World of Difference", in which I wrote:
"You claim you want to take your country back. We are determined to take our country forward."
A few people commented on that quote at the time. I don't think it's particularly "brilliant" so much as a common sense conclusion that we've all more or less come to over time.

I suppose it is a good slogan and, if so, I hope people use it. I merely put words to what we were all collectively thinking.

This is a political message board - I never take anything said here personally.
We reply here to each others' words, positions taken, opinions expressed. But we should keep in mind that we're not addressing the actual "person" behind a post, simply because we don't know that person in their entirety.
We get to see aspects of each other - aspects we may totally disagree with, or vehemently dislike. But we sometimes forget that every poster has facets of him/herself that don't necessarily find their way into political discourse.
I thank you for the compliment, and the gesture of goodwill. It is greatly appreciated.

15. Thanks! I heard someone use it on MSNBC, *I think* ... |
|
it went by really fast in a discussion with one of the guests on TRMS or Countdown, and I may even be paraphrasing what I heard, but it stuck in my mind. I was following the rest of the story and forgot who said it.
