How do we know that Osama Bin Laden isn't funding Republicans?
This is the perfect framing.

I don't care if you don't believe the guy is still alive (I don't) or even relevant (I don't) because Joe Six Pack, scared of his own shadow, on the fence voter, does. And he doesn't want to vote for people being funded by that Terrorist (tm). We need to get in on the ground before the other guys think of it.

6. Well just for starters, look at the financial history of some of "our" party leaders.
There are two high profile officials from CA. that came to office 20+ years ago as comfortable upper middle-class and amazingly & coincidentally:sarcasm: were married to guys that became billionaires through government contracts and incredibly lucky "investments".

But, as I said, I'm sure this was all just good luck and astute investment & timing.

:hi:How the hell are you doing these days?

11. But you know about it right? What do you know of where GOP is getting it's money?
I suspect this is nothing but a huge money laundering scheme. Could be drug money, could just be corruption money but it surely is money they will do anything to keep from the public..

15. The OP related to the Democratic Party's potential message. Of course the republiks are
crooked, almost certainly even more crooked than the Democrats, but the graft on our side makes it impossible to point out the graft on theirs.

Just like Impeachment could not be allowed to go forward, too many Democrats are guilty as well.

22. I'm of the "let the chips fall where they may" kind of idealist
I never saw it as a problem that some of ours would go down with many of theirs. Corruption is corruption and one way to end it is to put it on the table for all to see, to badly paraphrase Pelosi.

23. Oh, I absolutely agree with you, but we don't get to decide.
Probably for just that reason. We are almost ripe for a dictator.

7. I'd be less surprised at this direction
After all, if Osama is still alive, he's on the BFEE payroll.

I'm sure the House of Saud is oiling the Republican election machinery quite liberally.

19. Of course we know
Do people other than those paying attention know and do they know that "Citizen's United" made it so that the money can flow both ways?

16. This is how to play the game
For all we know, the money could be coming from the Taliban, or Al Qaeda, or Pakistan, or North Korea. I'm not saying it is, just saying that for all we know, it could be.

Leave it to them to prove otherwise. Until they fully disclose their donors, any and all speculation is fair game.

17. Absolutely - with secret donations, we Just Don't Know
Could be Berlusconi, bin Laden, even.....CHAVEZ

So long as there is secrecy about contributions - we'll never know.

We give billions to Pakistan, whose intelligence community often protects/works with terrorists. We're in a nasty cycle...

21. Aren't we though. And the Orwellian "Citizen's United" bad decision by the Supreme Court
is just making the whole thing a whole lot more opaque.
