MEDICARE FOR ALL
post up the net (actually got a libertarian on a "moderate" board to admit it would be a competitive advantage)
email it around
pester the TV news bosses (found out Christiane Amanpour's team is working on something)
write the editors
submit to the vent
pester the crap out of politicians (One of Saxby's stooges actually hung up on me - wtf?)
flash the car sticker around
flash my shirt button around
chat it up around town
leave a few stickies around
have a shocking conversation with a VERY republican acquaintance - she wants it too.

Work it each day = whatever presents itself today.

Every day. Until we have it or I die.

Edited on Tue Oct-12-10 06:18 AM by billlll
We had prosperity and jobs then BECAUSE
Of that top rate. But now the tax cut money used to send factories to India.
Result, unemployment ... Loss of gov revenue...cuts to cops, food inspectors, cuts to gov agency form processors, like DMV....cuts to pothole repair...to schools, libraries...93%cut to mental health since '80. Asylums half shut.

PS another post today says US is

3. I was denied health insurance coverage yesterday.
There are no options for me, thanks to the deal the President made with the health care industry.

8. Would it have been better if HCR wasn't passed? In other words would you have been able to get
coverage on the old system?

15. No, of course not and she should thank her lucky stars...
that she now has no Health Care of a much better quality than she would have had prior to the passage of H'C'R.

Seriously, yours has to be one of the most insensitive and inane posts in my 6 years on DU. She has no fucking health care options! What difference does it make which system put her in that position?

7. +1

Each day, 273 people die due to lack of health care in the U.S.; that's 100,000 deaths per year.

We need single-payer health care, not a welfare bailout for the serial-killer insurance agencies.

We don't need the GingrichCare of mandated, unregulated, for-profit insurance that is still too expensive, only pays parts of medical bills, denies claims, bankrupts and kills people. Republinazi '93 plan:
"Subtitle F: Universal Coverage - Requires each citizen or lawful permanent resident to be covered under a qualified health plan or equivalent health care program by January 1, 2005."

"We will never have real reform until people's health stops being treated as a financial opportunity for corporations."

9. How? That assumes we are a enlightened country, and except for a few brief periods of progressive
events, on the whole the country has been pretty right wing

From Civil RIghts to corporate control of the government, I unfortunately don't see it happening until a lot of people get a lot smarter

Which is what great slogans can do.

Expand the frame of debate to the left.

10. Still a TERRIBLE message. MEDICARE is a dirty word to many people.
It will never get anywhere until a more positive slogan is created.

16. Medicare is popular for those that are on it. It's not to those that aren't.
Most people aren't on it.

17. Maybe to the people that don't understand the difference
between MEDICARE and MEDICAID -

Medicaid, which essentially exists as health insurance for the poor, is seen as one of those "evil entitlement programs".

HOW DARE YOU HELP POOR PEOPLE, WHEN WE COULD BE SENDING THAT MONEY TO BILLIONAIRES TO ALLOW THEM TO OFFSHORE MORE JOBS!!1!
