2. I swear, mainstream media may be partly to blame if Dems don't come out to vote,

they keep giving us ZERO reasons to do so!!

At least FauxNews keeps their candidats propped up, including O'Donnell!

I don't understand it.

31. Was that the mission in '06 and '08?
When they predicted correctly the Democratic takeover of the House and Senate and then the Obama win?

33. Fin please ...
they spent all of 06 and 08 saying how the Ds were "overplaying their cards" and "getting the curtins ready" and saying this or that was a problem for them ... They allowed for the margins on the polls, then QUICKLY did the "but it is early" or "they can't be overconfident."

They bent Nancy Pelosi over backwards making her commit to having no investigations of the most off the rails president since Nixon ...

Jesus, the day after 08 the media started trumting the 2010 republican tsunami ... I have not heard even ONCE about how the Rs might be overplaying their hands, or how it is early ... It has been all Rs assured of winning the house, and the senate is a good bet ... Never ONCE has anyone said ANYTHING about Darrell Issa not even being able to hide his glee over investigating the ever loving snot out of BO ...

Sorry, the MSM is very obedient of its orders - dems in trouble, Rs on the prowl ...

6. No, the Democrats are to blame. The MSM has been a joke for years. There is no such thing
as journalism today. The only news television news source I use is Bloomberg, the rest comes from reading

I haven't watched the MSM since Gore lost, and the bias was so obvious back then

CSPAN is good when you want to hear speeches or events

let's be truthful.
The millions and millions that FUX and others give the GOoPers in free propaganda daily is the only thing making them viable.

Say the opposite of the truth and hope people will believe you.

He's probably trying to negate the CoC allegations
(which actually show the Dems on the offense for once).

13. They Are Thanks To His Astroturfing GOOP Lies...
Sadly I'm coming to the conclusion we're in for a rough November as Democrats ARE on the defensive...many running away from this administration's policies and making the party appear weak. Yes, the framing of the corporate media has done little to help as they want government gridlock...makes a better "story". But then if Americans vote the GOTB back into power, this country deserves all the bad that will follow with it. And the corporate media will then blame the Democrats.

I'm going back to sleep...

19. I Do While Canvassing...
I will be going again this weekend and hope the results are different but I'm seeing a lot of people who plan to vote GOTB this year that voted Democratic in the past. Sorry to be the harbinger of such news, but I've worked these areas for the past decade and think I have a pretty good handle on where the "temperature" is out there. The economy is THE issue...people worried about losing homes and jobs and think this administration hasn't done enough. As some here complain, they see little difference between the parties and the Democrats had their chance and blew it. Try to explain how the GOTB has been deliberately obstructing and you'll hear about how the Democrats have had majorities and that's no excuse. Try to explain about healthcare and be prepared to see their higher premiums. Try to talk about the economy and you'll hear about all the spending. There are few areas of strength the Democrats have other than playing their own fear card. Playing the "middle of the road" will cost this Administration and the Democratic party dearly next month. Wish it weren't true but I see and hear nothing that says different at this time. Prove me wrong, please!

20. I personally know a lot of African Americans
who are either staying home or voting GOP this year. A couple have told me that they're not "mad" at Obama, but fed up with Pelosi & Reid.

They think if they get some Repugs in, it will "balance out the power"... and Obama will do better.

Go figure.

22. Welcome To DU
There's a lot of misdirected anger out there. We could spend all day in fingering the causes but the bottom line remains the Democrats are in a poor position in this election, allowed the GOTB to frame many of the issues on the state and local level that are resonating with many who only look at the here and now.

You're right, I've heard too many say that a "balanced government" would be a good thing...like it was in the 90s. Somehow they see this as a check and balance on both parties who have done little for them and they deeply distrust.

We're seeing polling that shows AA and even Hispanic enrollment down. In many districts, such as the one I work, those votes are minimal; as they are in many red and purple districts the Democrats are attempting to defend this year. Also, I see a big drop off in 18-30 year olds...two years ago we had more young volunteers than we could handle. This year it's us old folks again.

Welcome to DU...

23. Dems in my area of PA are going out to vote
I have only met 3 African Americans who are sitting it out this year and I have been canvassing daily. There are no African Americans staying home. They all know the score and want a Congress to support the man they voted for. They would never cripple the first African American president. They will not ally themselves with folks who are screaming the N-word at the Tea Party Rallies or Scalia who wants to severely limit the 14th Amendment. Troll Talk.

Additionally, Our base is holding firm. Maybe 10% aren't sure or are voting R. We have been fluffing and folding our base. Trust me. Union members will be contacted 25 times over the month of October. After Obama's speech in Philadelphia, I am seeing a number of people walk into our office to volunteer, lots of African Americans. We now have people crawling over our turf from multiple organizations, doing GOTV, handing out signs, and canvassing.

Chuck is right. We are playing defense but all we have to do is to be savvy about what we defend and we can hang on to what we got. Believe it or not, there are certain cities in certain states that will guarantee a democratic control over both the House and Senate. Turnout will drive our victory. We can pull this one out if we hunker down and work. When I spell it out to people on my list, exactly how important they, personally, are, their eyes pop open and they are on board, no questions asked.

We don't have the exuberance of 2008 but we do have the grit and determination of 2010.

15. I've been listening to the debates and it's true.
The Dem candidates are approaching every question as if they've been accused of something wrong. "Senator, do you support 'Obamacare'?" "Well, . . . you know . . . we had to look at the problem and . . . you know . . . come up with a solution that EVERYONE would like . . . and I think we did a pretty good job."

WTF? What is that? Stand up and support it, fer chrissakes, if that's what you believe. You cede the higher ground EVERY SINGLE TIME they ask a question.

...your in denial.

We are fighting to hold on even in places like California.

The GOP has taken the fight directly to us, and we are absolutely on defense everywhere.

So what about what Todd said is wrong?

32. Do you think the public cares or can comprehend the CoC issue?
Edited on Tue Oct-12-10 10:48 AM by ProudToBeBlueInRhody
Al Hunt was on Bloomberg this morning about a poll that was conducted where voters agree with most of the economic policies of the Democrats and are against cutting the programs the Repigs want to slash, yet are still voting for the Thugs. Try overcoming that kind of idiocy in less than a month.
