Who's upset over the economy? Everybody, everywhere
Source: Yahoo News

Anger: It's the defining political emotion of this campaign season. It's boiling across the country, much of it directed at President Obama and the congressional Democrats over the way they have handled the economy. Not far behind is dissatisfaction.

The combination, detected in a new ABC News/Yahoo! News poll, spells trouble for Democrats three weeks out from the election. Angry people, analysts say, go out and vote. Dissatisfied people tend to stay home.

With the recovery stalling, unemployment stuck at 9.6 percent and the housing crisis entering a dangerous new phase as bungled paperwork and outright fraud force a halt to foreclosures across the country, there's plenty to get upset about.

The poll, a national, random-sample survey conducted by Langer Research Associates, shows just how deep the anger runs: A sky-high 25 percent of Americans say they are angry about the state of the economy — many more of them Republicans than Democrats, a key reason why the economy's woes appear to be playing to the GOP's favor.

1. yes.
This is a very serious recession.
And, no one in authority seems to be able to take action.
The last thing that a company does when the economy picks up is to hire people. That makes sense to them.

Owing to the state of the field of Economics, very few economists have any solutions. The ones that do have workable solutions are ignored. The economy will have to fix itself.

Washington seriously lacks the will and the courage to do what needs to be done; that includes Obama. This would be true the GOP were in power. The GOP does not believe, in principle, in taking any action. The Democrats argue and dither. This is not march 1933, when there was the will and determination to act. Today, just dithering.

10. no one is taking action?!
good god, where did the trillion plus in newly printed money for mortgages come from over the last year? Where did the TARP and associated bailouts come from?
What we suffer from is not inaction, but too much action designed to thwart the efforts of the marketplace (which merely reflects consumer/producer demands) to re-align itself with the underlying reality our situation.
False interest rate signals, engineered by the Federal Reserve, resulted in over-consumption. Balance must be restored, and only the people (who are the market) can do that. Printing trillions of dollars will only further harm the economy, and thwart efforts to more accurately align production and consumption.

13. Upset? How about Mad As Hell!
The GOP in congress have not only not assisted in helping solve some of the many economic issues facing America, they have tried to block practically every bill in congress, slowing down progress, showing clear disregard of the challenges and struggles of you, me and the whole of society.

To suggest the republicans would be rewarded "Hired" for this type of irresponsibility is laughable.

2. I find the article is listing to the right.
They seem to only want to fully quote teabagger idiots and they never, ever make mention of which party was in power when we hit the recession.

Come on Yahoo, who exactly got us to this state of economic recession? Dare they speak his name? Eight years of the bushes and the economy was hemorrhaging 3 quarters of a million jobs a month at the end of those eight years. Who is really responsible?

8. Yahoo News is consistently right-wing.
Just a glance at their headlines tips one off as to their bias. I only endure them simply because I use Yahoo's email service, but I have to go through the bullshit news page to get to my email. :eyes:

3. Thanks for posting this
I have a hunch it is more of a Public Relations piece than actual news the Center for American Progress has been doing a study, if you will, to see who has been promoting these pieces so I decided to check the writers background, and guess what she is/has been connected to Politico. Now I not 100% sure I'm right but I might be. Do you think this might be a Public Relations piece or real news?

5. No, 40 yrs of neoliberal policies did this AND there is no one in.............
........either party (except for a very small handful) willing to go against the money powers to fix it. What we needed was another FDR, what we got was a black Bill Clinton.

6. Everyone I know is seething. Really pissed off.
Hearing that the companies you send money to are engaged in open fraud and huge crime, is too much. Criminals should be put out of business so they can do no more harm. Look what they have done to this nation. And look at the lack of passion for justice and equity. There is no rule of law anymore.

12. I do not know either
I live in a safe GOP state, so it is hard for me to get a good reading.
I am impervious to GOP rhetoric, so the hype does nothing for me.
But, it is nerve racking.

14. How many Americans have seen the "Bikini Chart"??
Thanks to the press focus on the TEA BAGGERS rather than what Obama's policies have done then of course there should be anger. We should have elected McCain so the American people would have been force fed who's policies are better for America!
