That the formation and funding of the groups are different, that there are, in short, many particular differences between them.

Your point is that the ideology on display is similar, and that some of its effects have been unsettling and even horrific. I don't think anyone would dispute that point.

I thought that one type of charter school wasn't for-profit and that it's basically a way for parents and teachers to create a different type of school within a district. And that that kind of school has to accept all students who apply on the same basis. (For example, a lottery.)

Our last superintendent went way too far the other direction. Before he came, we had a diversity of types of schools and he made almost all of them all the same -- to the point that there was a single grade-level curriculum across all schools and all classes were supposed to be on the same page of the book on the same day. Ugh.
