Screwed in Florida
We’ve got three candidates here in Florida running for the U.S. Senate. The Democrat is a liberal, Kendric Meek. The Republican is a teabagger, Marco Rubio. And the Independent is our current governor, Charlie Crist.

Rubio is leading, Crist is in the middle, and Meek is running a poor third.

Although Crist was a Republican, the teabagger, Rubio, beat him out in the primary which pushed Crist into an Independent run for the job.

As much as it kills me to not vote for the Democrat, it looks like I’m going to have to vote for Charlie Crist. He’s been a reasonable governor, he’s sane, and the main issue here is to keep the lunatic teabagger from winning.

At present, it looks like Crist and Meek will split the Democratic/Moderate vote, thus letting the madman Rubio win. This really sucks, but it is what it is and there’s not a damn thing we can do about it.

But it’s really going to hurt when I don’t vote for the Democrat.

8. Sorry, I just can't do it. If enough Dems reach the same conclusion,
maybe, just maybe, Crist can beat out the teabagger.

My guess is that if this happens, he won't turn into a Joe Lieberman and caucus with the thugs. Crist is very pragmatic and will probably caucus with the Dems, hopefully giving them control of the senate.

But this is all speculation and all we can do is hold our collective breaths until election day.

9. Goodbye then?
You should maybe go to a republican friendly sight and cry?

Either vote for Meek, or be a pubbie. Night or day.

Crist can't win. Don't vote for the pubbie. Clear as day. See, just solved YOUR problem.

29. the reality is that if the fla dems do not vote for meek,
Edited on Wed Oct-13-10 07:46 PM by ellenfl
he surely will not win. how can any self-respecting dem vote for the lesser of two republicans, instead of the authentic dem? charlie crist is only an independent to get elected. it's all about him. he will fall right into lockstep with the repubs if he wins. what don't you understand about that?

i guess it will be no real loss as the seat was already republican but, unless you are a conservative plant working for rubio, your proselytizing for crist dumbfounds me. rubio, in and of himself, will have little power in congress without a republican filibuster-proof majority in the senate and they are unlikely to be that successful, despite the rw trying to make it so by saying it is. go ahead and vote for crist but please do not try to convert anyone here. it's not fair to those of us who want a real dem in the seat.

don't forget that meek's primary was supposed to be a squeaker with his opponent on top, yet meek won it HANDILY. the rw wants you to think we have no chance to keep our majority this year. you are helping them.

4. Don't let it bother you that you are voting for Crist
Florida Democrats have to make the best out of the situation.

Meek has no chance of winning, and if all Crist does is vote to caucus with the Democrats it's better than nothing.

I don't want Rand Paul or Sharron Angle in charge of a committee (assuming they win).

18. Try to understand this. Many of us are not voting for Crist.
We are voting against Rubio.

Meek can't beat Rubio. Maybe, just maybe, Crist can.

This is definitely a lesser of two evils situation.

20. No. You are wrong.
Crist will not win. Rubio will win, no matter what you do. So vote for Meek and show support for the Democratic Party. Show support for a true liberal and not some damned flap flipper like Crist.

6. It's one thing to vote for Crist, quite another to ADVOCATE (and you aren't but others have)
for Meek to drop out of the race.

Meek's candidacy will pull in support for Grayson and Sink, especially from African Americans.

if we were unable to oust Specter in the PA primary I would have held my nose and helped to put Specter back in even though he would have been the DINO option.

15. Good luck with that spine thing
Charlie was a flipper before he flopped. Say good bye, and good riddance.

Too bad it took a tea bagger to do it. But that's the price. In six years time, the tea will have spoiled so bad we can say good bye to tea parties, too.

Rubio is gonna start smelling like bushco as soon as he comes out from under the bushies. And may just be the final nail in the Fla bushco coffin.

17. "if you can find your spine"???
There's a very slight chance that Crist may win and virtually no chance that Meek can win. It's hard to tell a half month away from election day.

But "find my spine?"

If you've read what I've posted here, this is not about "finding spine" otherwise defined as "courage."

It's about keeping one more madman (Rubio-the-teabagger) away from any power in this country.

If you think that "finding my spine" would in any way change the situation in Florida, I'd suggest that you "Find your powers of reason and logic."

Meek is the good. Vote for and support the good. Don't be spineless and vote for the ugly. Show Meek you like him because he is the only liberal. Show support for democrats. That is what having a spine means.

22. Correction
"Although Crist was a Republican, the teabagger, Rubio, beat him out in the primary which pushed Crist into an Independent run for the job."

Rubio did not beat out Crist in the primary. "Weather Vane Charlie" saw that Rubio would beat him out in the primary, so Charlie never ran for the GOP nomination. He announced traight out as an independent BEFORE the primaries and immediately began to veto GOP sponsored legislation to curry favor with Dem voters. If Crist thought ho could have beaten Rubio in the primary (originally Crist had it in the bag), he never would have run as an independent AND he would be towing the GOP party line and making campaign stops with Jebbie.

24. Sucks, I know...
But if you are convinced anyway that rubio will win, why not vote for Kendric Meek? He needs all the support he can get if not for this election, maybe get enough light to expose his candidacy for a future election.
Just don't see the harm here in voting for Kendric - seems like the right thing to do.

it's become backward, assholish, stupid and a laughing stock of Jamaica and Haiti

How far can you cut no taxes? Seriously, all these assholes running for everything are going to cut taxes.

With all the things wrong here, this seems to be the one track repeated over and over.

30. Tax cutting is the Republican's equivalent of the cure to cancer.
Of course they know it won't cure anything. But greed knows no reason.

No matter what any Dem says, the Republican answer is always, "cut taxes."

This week, we saw someone's house burn down because they couldn't pay their taxes. Is this the America you want to live in?
