LETTER: ‘On Rep. Barton’

To the Editor,

There is a façade in Texas politics that all Republicans are Christian conservatives. No other Republican in history is a better example of that façade than Rep. Joe Barton.

Barton has shown his true colors in many ways:

• His continued support of the tobacco industry to addict and kill 400,000 Americans a year for profit was showcased many times by the late Peter Jennings of ABC.

• His continued support of a public gouging oil industry earlier this year during the BP oil spill.

• His continued support of higher taxes by voting for the $50,000,000,000 bailout of GM.

Now Barton expects me and the other citizens of the Texas 6th District to support his ego? Look out Washington! I think his head is going to pop.
