In South Carolina, we have three senatorial candidates:
Jim DeMint (R)
Alvin Greene (D)
Tom Clements (Green)

It looks like DeMint, a near teabagger could win. Most all polls show him with a lead that seems hard to overcome.

Alvin Greene, the Deomocrat, on the other hand, appears for all the world to have what can kindly only be termed "disqualifying issues."

The Green candidate, Tom Clements, seems earnest and has articulated some reasonable positions, but he's hopelessly out of the running. His campaign appears to be he, his wife, and a desktop computer.

What to do, what to do?

1. I would vote for the Green candidate, ....and then.....
.....try to start a campaign to get those voting machines thrown out in future elections.

4. I thought Nathalie Dupree had tossed her hat in the ring.
But I can't find any recent info to that effect. Anyone know?

6. Nathalie Dupree is a household name among most women and many men in South Carolina.

Hey, we've had an actor as POTUS, why not a chef as Senator? She could use DeMint as a garnish for her Juleps.

7. Interesting, a DU thread in which people are suggesting something other than
voting for the Democrat. In keeping with DU rules, shouldn't we be advocating for Alvin Greene? A strange situation indeed.

8. We should, of course, but in light of the Crist advocacy, I wanted to see where the community .....
... was on this one.

Look around. Lots of people have just come out and said they're voting for Crist, even as Meek is a viable and sane, if not stellar, candidate.

The issue is not the SC race. It is hypocrisy.

14. I'll vote for whomever has the best chance of beating DeMint.

I will not vote for an unqualified candidate, even if they are the Democratic nominee.

BTW, Dupree was very active in Democratic politics in her younger years.

9. I'm voting for Alvin Greene

Ya'll want me to vote Democratic, eh? I'll give the party it's due....

Truth is, Demented would have to do the dead girl/live boy thing to lose.

10. Voting for Clements, but DeMint will be re-elected. Much more excited about the govorner's race.
Sheheen is hitting Haley with some pretty hard-core ads, and she's not really responding. If he can score a knockout in one of the debates, we might have a little surprise for the repubs.

11. As am I.
If Clements weren't running, and I had no other choice, I'd vote for Greene. Even with the criminal charges against him, and all the other associated weirdness, he's still infinitely better than DeMented.

I haven't seen many of Sheheen's ads. But, if I hear Icky Nikki's ad one more time, I think I'll puke. Interestingly, however, I HAVE been reading various LTEs, etc., from republicans who are supporting Sheheen. I'm guessing it's because she's Lover Boy's protege, and Sanford isn't very well-loved around here, even in his own party.

12. Honestly?
I would vote for Alvin. You know why? The other night he was being interviewed by L.O. on MSNBC and he was sooooooooooooooooooo on point.

L.O: Alvin - is the sky blue when it's not raining or overcase?
Alvin: Jim Demint caused the recession.

L.O.: Alvin - Is your name Alvin?
Alvin: Jim Demint caused the recession.

L.O.: Do you believe in Santa Clause?
Alvin: Jim Demint caused the recession.

Okay - I'm being 'over the top' but I swear the answer the guy gave over and over and over and over was: Jim Demint caused the recession.

He gets extra points from not straying from the message.

Anyhoooooooo - Good convo. I think Senator Lautenberg (86 and quite frail) probably won't make it through his full term.

I think Gov Chris Christie (NJ) will run in his seat.

If Cory Booker isn't running? I'm writing in Chris Daggett. Since now I know it's okay to vote for a 3rd party candidate even though I'm a dem.

13. I happened to catch Greene's teevee stint, too. Very funny. Until you realize he got nominated!
In many ways, the teabaggers are less not normal.
