Doesn't seem like a good return on the investment, does it?

You can get put on the no-fly list for questioning the military industrial complex.
I'm only half joking and the answer to your question is we would have a lot less need for it.

6. Motor vehicle travel is incredibly subsidized |
|
Hidden costs are everywhere, and jack up the price of practically everything you can imagine. If a product is transported to market, some part of its price is dedicated to those big, fat slabs of asphalt all over the country, the vehicles on them, and the oil it takes to make it all run. I don't know what the solution might be, but a good start would be anything that doesn't look like more of the same.

We need to stop paying for the world's oil access.
Right after that we should close down all our bases in stable regions.

12. The ship itself runs on nuclear. But I would imagine those planes use the hell out of some gas. |

14. Well, the carrier would be nuclear, but |
|
the DoD is the single biggest user of refined petroleum products on the planet Earth.
The military has a vested interest in access to oil...no oil, no ability to wage war.
A vicious cycle, that Big Oil and military contractors never want to see broken...and we get to pay for it all, in more ways than one.

... even when you point it out to Regressives, doesn't even phase them. Cognitive dissonance means never having to notice your own hypocrisy.
