You know what offends me the most about the administration making the argument for appeal? |
|
It's not the fact that they think we are stupid, I've gotten used to that. It's their argument for why they need to appeal. It's not that they are trying to uphold the law, or the constitution. It's that they think the ruling to ban DADT right away will somehow be destructive to the military. They are making the argument that they need to do this in an orderly way. What the fuck does that mean?
It seems to imply that if tomorrow we simply stop firing gay people from the military it will create some kind of chaos and will have serious "consequences to our men and women serving in the military". What consequences exactly? Is teh gay going to make everything about the armed forces fabulous if we don't disband DADT in an "orderly" way?

1. A fabulous armed forces hasn't been the American way since - well, never mind - it never was. |

It has always been based on honor and courage, but I really don't think it was ever fabulous. We spend MONEY on it like it is fabulous, but the people getting killed in action don't see much of that and the ones who are wounded don't see much of it either. Something is really fucked up there.
