Sen. Harry Reid issues statement on rescue of Chilean miners
http://www.rgj.com/article/20101013/NEWS/101013059/1321

(snip)
“Like many Nevadans, especially the state's Chilean community, I have closely followed the story of the 33 trapped Chilean miners for the last two months and have remained hopeful for a safe resolution.

"Today, I join the people of Chile and rest of the world community to celebrate the successful rescue efforts to bring these men back to the surface alive and well, reuniting them with their family and friends. I am also grateful for the heroic, around-the-clock efforts of the rescuers- including those from the U.S.- who risked their own lives to free these men.

“My father was a hard-rock miner, so my family knew first-hand the dangers involved when he went into the mines. To this day, I can’t think of a harder job than his. We know that these Chilean miners and their families will continue to require medical and emotional support as they readjust to their normal lives. But I am elated that tonight they will be able to rejoin their families after almost 70 days. These men and their families should remain in our thoughts.”

2. My great grandfather was a hard rock miner. Congrats to all those who made it happen.
