1. Wow, how tragic...
It is hard enough to have to make that decision, but to find the dog alive the next day is traumatic.

7. I had to have my 19-year-old cat put to sleep in 2005 because of
a fast-growing cancer in her jaw. She was in great pain. I waited too long to let her go, because I couldn't bear to lose her, but by the time I realized her pain was too great to tolerate, it was a holiday weekend and I had to wait two days to have it done. I promised my now 18-year-old other cat that I wouldn't let that happen to her, so I watch her carefully to make sure she is not suffering too much from her compacted spinal discs.

If my sweet Gabby had turned up alive a day after being euthanized, I would have been devastated!
