UFO flys over New York City
Edited on Thu Oct-14-10 11:01 AM by cbdo2007
VIDEO: "UFO" Flys Over New York City

New York, NY -- A mysterious shiny object floating high over Manhattan Wednesday sparked speculations UFO's floating over the city's West Side.

Dozens of people were stopped in the middle of the sidewalks of Chelsea looking up in the sky.

Confused and some with unsettling feelings no one could decipher whether the object was a balloon or a lost ship trying to find its way back to space.

The city says its help line 3-1-1 received dozens of phone calls about a mysterious object in the sky.

This is from another article with HD video:

But, according a September 13 press release for the book Challenges of Change by retired NORAD officer Stanley A. Fulham, he predicted that a fleet of UFOs would descend upon Earth's major cities on Wednesday, October 13.

Fulham stated the extraterrestrials would neither land nor make any communication with Earth on Wednesday. But their presence would be "the first in a series intended to avert a planetary catastrophe resulting from increasing levels of carbon-dioxide in the earth's atmosphere dangerously approaching a 'critical mass.' <...> They are aware from eons of experience with other planets in similar conditions their sudden intervention would cause fear and panic."

He says their contact with Earth is part of their process of leading mankind into accepting the "alien reality and technologies for the removal of poisonous gases from the earth's atmosphere in 2015, if not sooner."

This is the real deal people! I really think they're about to make contact with us!!!

49. Hmmm...
Maybe they were made of some highly reflective mylar. If all three of them were tied to the same set of strings they might jump and dance a bit like that. I wish there was some indication as to how far away they are so that we can finger out how much string there is.

They would have to be really shiny to be that bright that they can be seen at whatever range they were seen at. The regular ones you buy for a birthday party would not reflect far enough during the day.

I would say whatever they are, they are still unidentified at this point. Honestly we really need to unburden UFO's from little green men at this point the ufologists and super-skeptics sort of prevent anyone from doing a proper job at figuring out what the hell they are.

Debunkers Launch “Great UFO Hoax”

On January 5, 2009, report debunkers Chris Russo and Joe Rudy, “we set out on a mission to help people think rationally and question the credibility of so-called UFO ‘professionals.’” The pair launched a hoax, in the form of flares dangling from helium balloons, over New Jersey. Their “Morristown UFO” received extensive media coverage. “Unexplained Red Lights Spotted in Skies,” hyped Fox News, for example. The simple hoax even snookered Bill Birnes, publisher of UFO Magazine and lead investigator of the History Channel’s UFO Hunters . (See “How We Staged the Morristown UFO Hoax,” April 1, 2009. Online at skeptic.com , feature; accessed April 2, 2009.)

Similar hoaxes are common. According to Margaret Sachs in her The UFO Encyclopedia (New York: Perigee Books, 1980, p. 30), “Because of the scarcity of reference points in the sky, these hoaxes have often caused as much confusion as legitimate research and weather balloons.” Many such hoaxes have been uncovered.

<snip>

The refusal of some observers to accept the evidence that they were fooled highlights one reason such hoaxes have limited success: they tend to appeal most to debunkers; others are not so likely to get the desired message, but instead conclude that the tricksters are just mean-spirited s. It surely isn’t helpful when Russo and Ruddy state: “Now, you may be thinking that UFOs are only seen by a mullet sporting, tobacco chewing, dolt whose highest aspiration is to make an appearance on the Jerry Springer Show , but in fact doctors, lawyers and even pilots report seeing flying saucers, flying triangles, and aerial shapes of all manner of an unidentified nature. Even over the skies of an affluent suburban community in New Jersey.” Please, let’s have less gratuitous disparagement of poor, rural folk and more exposés of Bill Birnes’ ineptness.

73. hmm
until the last couple of years I found CSI to be a pretty obnoxious organization. Of course I appreciated them when they went after obvious frauds (televangelists, cranks, scams, and pseudo-scientists) but there was a time when they seemed less scientifically rigorous and more driven by an almost apriori knowledge of what was true and what was not.

Looking at their website more recently it seems a bit cleaner and less full of publicity hacks using inductive reasoning (ie. "I can accomplish this stunt this way with this trick, therefore anyone else who has done it must also be accomplishing it this way")

Again, lately they seem to be a bit more scientific rather than merely skeptical, which is good.

Anyway Maybe the 'aliens' don't have DNA but are automatons?

I think we do need close encounters of a second kind
encounters that leave direct physical evidence of any kind
There have been a rare few of those.

I think this UFO was easily identified for what it really was.
Three metallic ballons.

I see 4 dots, which in all reality is hardly proof of alien life. I laugh though when people say there are no UFOs. It probably isn't an alien craft, but if you can't identify it, by definition, it is a UFO.

Perhaps same man releases a bunch of weather ballons from some Chealsea rooftop? Sounds like he has some skin in this game.

Not that I don't think it's likely there is life more advanced than humans or that there are ufo sightings. This just looks like ballons and the connection to that guy's prediction is fishy.

I, personally, hope they really DO look like the "greys." I think those are just adorable looking. I know. Nuts. But still...there HAS to be life out there. It CANNOT just be us. Why would they want to visit out backwards asses, though? I don't know.
