at least in theory some of the conservatives of the 60's - they were stupid racists - but since the Reagan years, the delusions of the right have just passed all understanding. Recall the "black helicopters", "the re-education camps", the Belgian troops under command of the UN who were training in the American west to take over the US? Now the birthers, and every other brainless conspiracy they can come up with...It is just amazing what these people believe to be real! what is wrong with this country that we produce such fools?

2. Yeah, I remember in the 90s, pictures "proving" that the UN was poised to take over the US... |
|
It was wheeled armored vehicles on a rail car. Turns out the wheeled vehicles were the new LAV 25s that Canada was making for the USMC.
That's the kind of stupid and crazy shit the righties have been spouting for awhile.

I was always particularly amused by the New World Order/UN Takeover theory.
An entity with approximately the financial and manpower resources of the government of the State of Michigan, and much of whose funding comes from the US, is going to invade and conquer the entire USA?
But, hey, who knows, they could be right. Then again, they could have just stopped taking their thorazine for a while.
Personally, once the Bush Doctrine of preemptive war came around, I was a big advocate of invading Denmark. It's quite apparent to anyone with a brain that those Danes are up to no good with their butter cookies and Gouda and Jarlsberg. Why, I'm sure their plan is to make as all fat and weaken us with coronary artery disease so they can invade us. Hit them now, before they hit us, that's what I say.
God, I sound like a Republican, don't I.

6. Pretty much..yes. And many of them are just plain stupid, as well. |

The evil are very adept at manipulating the fearful and the stupid. Nothing appeals to an ignorant fool like being told he should be proud to be an ignorant fool.

10. There are 2 types of right wingers |
|
1. the deluded reactionaries who believe this crap 2. the conservative wealthy who promote (or tolerate) this crap to energize group 1, and to enrage and distract the centrists/left.
group 1 wouldn't piss on group 2 if their heads were on fire. but they love to laugh at us for taking the bait.

See Palin, Sarah. Dumb as a fucking post, but with a grifter's eye for the main chance. sSe has enough common sense to parlay a wink, some fancy pageant walking, and a gift for creative incoherence, into a multi-million dollar bonanza.

And keeping people scared and misinformed is crucial to their ends. An educated electorate, supplied with ready facts and secure in their jobs and homes, doesn't get stampeded too easily. But keep people off balance, fed a steady diet of nonsense to the exclusion of anything beneficial to them, and make sure they're good and scared, jumping at every shadow, and you can manipulate large enough swaths of them to ensure that your greedy hold on power stays intact. The final step is to convince these same people that they're the smart ones, seeing through the "lies" of good health, clean water and air, and a well-funded educational system foisted upon them by the "elites."
