Art Robinson, opponent of Congressman Peter DeFazio of Oregon paying people to phone for him
Edited on Thu Oct-14-10 04:12 PM by Ferret Annica
I am unemployed and saw a sign offering a job to get out the vote. The signs are everywhere in the Jobs Search office, and the woman giving me the contact for the job order number said there was no given limit for how many people they wanted.

Which surprised me. This is Oregon's 4th Congressional District and nobody has the deep pockets to do this. Except apparently 'scientist' Art Robinson. The wing nut who tried vainly to browbeat Rachel Maddow in an interview on her show.

He didn't like her trying to question him about his theory that HIV was a government plot, radiation is good for you, or how public schools should be done away with.

I called and the person whom I spoke with liked my knowledgeably and pleasant speaking voice and wanted me to come in for a face to face and then to take a drug screen. She then went on to say this was to get out the vote in a crucial campaign to elect Dr. Art Robinson to replace Peter DeFazio.

There was a pregnant pause, and I told her I could pass the drug screen, but would fail the all important "am I radioactive enough to set off the Geiger counter test." She quickly thanked me for calling and hung up on me.

I just got back from Pete's office to give them this information they were unaware of, and to find out this week's spot to meet to continue to canvass for him. Where is this guy getting this money? Why is he so arrogant about how, "he's gonna buy himself a Congressional seat?"

This is a scary election. Let's hope Pete does well and the Governor's seat does not fall into Repug hands. I feel unclean just having talked to that harpy about that job.

1. heh, perhaps I should change my signature line to not reflect my third party status so much
But even being a Pacific Green, I care very much to see the Democrats do well this election cycle. To do otherwise would be the moral equivalent of seeing a very sick patient left out in the cold and rain with no medical care.

Maybe that is too bombastic a metaphor to use to talk about this country. But I am very worried, as well as deathly tired of being unemployed so long.
