How embarrassing - caught on surveillance photo stealing 98 year old's purse
Edited on Thu Oct-14-10 07:46 PM by Liberal_in_LA

Vallejo police released surveillance photos Thursday of a man suspected of stealing a 98-year-old woman's purse while she was shopping at a Safeway store last month.

The woman told police she put her purse in the child-seat area of her cart while shopping at the store at 709 Lincoln Road West on Sept. 30 and momentarily turned around. When she looked back at the cart, the purse was gone.

Police reviewed surveillance video and spotted a man pushing a shopping cart alongside the woman and then grabbing her purse, Sgt. Kenny Park said.

The suspect is a white man, possibly in his 30s or early 40s, with dark hair, a receding hairline, a mustache and goatee. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (800) 488-9383.

2. Hope they catch him...
And this is exactly why I never leave my purse in the shopping cart.

5. Oh, so do I.
It's crazy.

I know it's easier......but it's also easier for the thieves.

8. The parking lot...
is a pretty common place for that to happen also.

A friend had her purse stolen that way when she was putting groceries in her car...left the purse in the cart, turned away to put a bag in the car and the purse was gone.

First thing I do is take my purse and put it IN the car. If someone wants to steal my groceries, to hell with them. Canned tuna and toilet paper are easier to replace than credit and debit cards, drivers license, keys, photos, etc.

9. No that's shameful. Embarrasing would have been her fighting back...
...and winning.

One hopes the store (and/or community) makes sure she get's this months groceries and utilities, because it's almost a given that money was made aquainted with that POS's liver and kidneys toot sweet.
