What effect will the absense of ACORN have on this election cycle? |
|
Won't this be the first election without ACORN having seen to the registrations of so many otherwise non-voting citizens?

1. I was thinking about that this week also. |
|
They registered over one million people in 2008. That was one of the reasons the rabid right wanted to destroy them, since most of those voters were minorities and traditionally vote for Democrats. But Democrats didn't show much support for ACORN when they were falsely smeared by Breitbart/O'Keefe and Giles.
The organization has split up and is still operating I have read. So, maybe they are still helping to register new voters, however.

3. I was confounded as to why the Dems seemed to leave ACORN hanging. |
|
And even though it was found that ACORN was innocent of the O'Keefe allegations, there was no satisfaction for ACORN.

2. I am more worried about the electronic touch screen voting machines. |
|
And other election fraud perpetrated by the criminal Right.

4. In California, we have "motor voter".... |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-15-10 11:04 AM by arbusto_baboso
Basically, anyone coming into the DMV for any reason is offered a voter reg form. Also, in my workplace (a cash aid, food stamps and MediCal benefits office) we are obliged to offer voter reg forms - and assistance filling them out - to every client we contact.
Let's just say I've registered as many voters this year as I did in 2008.

We haven't had a lot of the voter shenanigans that other state have had. Knock wood and thank David Allen.

11. Maybe we need to petition Debra Bowen on that. She's our SoS, and a good one. |

6. None - and they didn't effect earlier elections either |
|
To think that they would make a difference now is to buy into the Republican nonsense from back then.

7. If they weren't making a difference, then why were people giving them money? |

9. They did a LOT more than just voter reg and GOTV work. |
|
You might want to reasearch that.

12. So, registering a million voters a year, and then not registering a million voters |
|
a year has no effect? Really? So, who the fuck is registering them now?
And I don't buy into a goddamned thing republican'ts say.
Oh, and BTW, it's "affect".
