And there is NOTHING we can do to change it until 2012. We tried in 2008, but unlike the Republicans who are way better organized than us, we just won't put a decent winning streak together until the Country burns thanks to their mismanagement. Right now, the Country thinks the jobs problem was created by Dems. Oh well, it's a little late to try and change that image.

Maybe this Administration will learn a lesson in November?

2. if we lose a bunch of seats.. this admin will likely go even more centrist..
I believe Obama still wants to be the transformational President this country so desperately needs.. and if that means more compromise with the right.. then I suspect that's what will happen.

Is that what you meant by "learn a lesson"?

19. This administration will likely go MORE to the Right...
no matter what happens.
It Dems hold their own, or gain any seats, the "Centrist" Democratic Party Leadership will declare a Public Mandate for their Centrist Policies.

Lose/Lose for the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party.

Never-the-Less,
vote for The Democrat anyway.
Its important.

3. I'll be shocked if the Pukes make any inroads at all
all this chatter is primaries where only they are voting so I don't put much stock in anything going on now. I don't think the American people as a block will endorse going back to the days of the dick and w and the hate filled fear mongering of those policies. It just confounds me of the number of people here who dislikes our President. As the old saying goes the proof is in the pudding...

12. We need to keep working.
The ONLY thing that matters at this point is getting voters to the polls on November 2nd.

You can help do that.

Volunteer down at Democratic HQ. They need people to make phone calls, knock on doors, compile lists of local events, do data entry, etc.

Help others get their early ballots in case they can't get out on election day.

Get a yard sign.

Talk to your cousin/nephew/aunt etc.

We need to focus on this or the next two years of DU will be not about how to improve the country, but about limiting damage.

thanks,

Scuba

4. My brother told me his Ford stock began dumping when the Dems got power
I had to send him the stock averages over the past 10 years for Ford stock to show him most of his losses were under Bush to make him believe me.

Bet he forgot the the wars began under Bush too.

People have short memories.

8. I told him he was being a dumbass for not selling when Bush took office like I told him to
When it was worth $30 a share! All he had to do was move it to a money market and he would have been fine. Now he has gotten about half of that back under President Obama and he was blaming him for it being down from its high.

Lets just hope people sober up before the election.

7. that sounds about as logical as saying that, because the people were on the road
at the time, anybody who dies in a car wreck as the result of a drunken driver "deserves" what they got.

Republicans running this country into the ground will cause wayyyyy too much in collateral damage.

10. Unfortunately, I believe that the Democrats are the Washington Generals.
There have been entirely way too many times over the years where massive wins could be racked up politically or when major legislation could have well been passed if they took to the airwaves, fought for what they supposedly "believe", and attacked the Republicans for a slew of legitimate reasons. They don't. When (If) certain elected Democrats "lose" this round of elections they will be well compensated for their loss in the private market to send a message to the next round of Dems when they're elected. Once you're an elected Dem you don't really ever lose again. However, the masses of people certainly do lose. We have repeatedly lost over the past few decades in this ever rightward shift.

Why have the Democrats NOT effectively used the recent filibuster in the Senate by all Republicans to reverse tax credits to transnational corporations for off-shoring our jobs to their advantage? It's such a huge winner. Huge. And not a peep. But, hey, they "tried" didn't they? They're transparent.

I am not advocating not voting for Democrats. Voting Democratic is the only way right now. We are just fighting a much harder battle than simply electing "better" Democrats.

The only lesson the Administration will "learn" is to blame the liberals (regardless of election outcome). They do it quite well (as do many here on DU).

13. And Get It It Will...
I couldn't agree more...it's painful to see and hear people ready to vote against their own best interests cause they're mad the Democrats either did too much or not enough. A major problem is that despite its big gains in '06 & '08 the Democrats never sold their agendas and values and made their gains because they weren't the GOTB.

Just as it worked to the Democrats advantage when the country went sour on boooosh and being completely out of power allowed them to throw stones and gain political points, the rushpublicans began the moment the '08 election ended and haven't stopped since. Their obstructionism worked...it made this administration look weak and allowed the right wing talking points to dictate the "public debate". The administration got suckered by the GOTB over and over while pissing off their various bases. Give the Mighty Wurltizer credit...it's cranked up and rockin' these days with lots of corporate and foreign hidden money and a lot of palms are being greased. Thus we get the "narratives" of the country hating the Democrats and President Obama.

Unfortunately I'm already seeing the knives out on this side of the sandbox...nerves are frayed and will only get worse in the ultimate blame game that will follow the elections. If the rushpublicans take over the House it will all but shut down the government for the next two years making it even tougher for this administration to get anything passed. Sadly, I expect the corporate media to do all it can to paint this President as a lame duck and many standing around ready to dance on his political grave.

The silver lining is the divisions within the GOTB as the "establishment" tries to reign in the teabaggers. While people may not be too hot about Democrats, they like rushpublicans even less. That corrupt party is threadbare of ideas and even bonafide candidates. The more successful the teabag candidates are the deeper the divide grows and could rupture big time if they smell blood in 2012.

And we will suffer for the very bad decisions of other Americans.

15. Not if we go out and vote
The "other" Americans are outnumbered, but they are the pieces of garbage who will get to decide this election if we just sit back and sit it out.

16. We always get what we deserve.
We never get what we want. Why? because, as a nation, we haven't the foggiest idea as to what we want.

If we ever did figure out what we wanted, our elected officials would shit a brick.

turn out. That is it! That is all!

All the skewed polls won't mean anything.

It's us against them. We need to get out and vote it's that simple.

If we get out and vote we will not lose. If we lose because some wanted to sit out to show their protest against the administration then we have our side to blame for a loss.

It's all about the numbers.

20. No! It's not too late. That's defeatism....
Most Americans haven't fallen for the treasonous acts of the Chamber and their co-conspirators.

We can beat them by getting voters to the polls on November 2nd.

You can help do that.
