Is there some central coaching center for Teabagger candidates?
Edited on Fri Oct-15-10 07:43 AM by DFW
I saw the clips of the debates in NV and DE (Wolf Blitzer really has nothing better to do?).

Both Angle and O'Donnell had nearly identical lines, especially their nearly word-for-word
lines on basing everything on the Constitution. O'Donnell was particularly lost when Coons
reminded her that the original Constitution didn't give women the right to vote and didn't
outlaw slavery. Is there a "Koch Institute for Factually Challenged Teabaggers" that sits
these people down in a room and tells them "repeat after me?"

I also noticed that both Angle and O'Donnell attacked their opponents with phony facts, and
tried to duck when both got caught lying (these were not appearances on Fox, maybe no one
explained that to them beforehand?).

1. Probably
They don't strike me as really independent or thoughtful folks.

BTW, I wanted to thank you for not allowing them to rewrite the history of the name of their movement. They named themselves teabaggers and then tried to back peddle when they realized the word had another meaning. I like to acknowledge the few of us who continue to use the name they chose.

4. They chose their name in ignorance, which is their trademark
"Conservative" that I am, I go with the original.

2. They may be getting coordination directly from the Mother Ship
Make that the Mama Grizzly Ship, Sarah Palin. :)

3. Sarah Palin couldn't coordinate a complete sentence
The ones who give Angle and O'Donnell their lines honed their skills feeding them to Palin first.

and Newt Gingrich had a wingnut training institute for years before he started this one.

This is where a good chunk of the "message discipline" comes from.

6. What annoys me more are the idiot moderators AND candidates that let it all slide
I mean, COME ON...Christine O'Donnell claims that not "allowing" local schools to teach Creationism is UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

Yup, she said that (the truth is quite the opposite, as any idiot would know), and neither the moderators nor her opponent took her up on that statement. Defer to religion much?

And the Reid/Angle debacle was a case study in how many times a reasonable guy should've said "now wait just a damned minute!" but didn't. In his case, the moderator did more work than he did in his own defense! THAT guy should be appointed "official moderator" for debates going forward or something. He did a reasonably good job.

But still. It's fine for us to sit here and complain about it, but what kind of cowards are the moderators and the candidates if they don't CALL THEM ON THEIR RIDICULOUS BULLSHIT loud and proud!?

Are the Democrats TRYING to lose here? It sure seems that way! (doesn't help that the President himself does an interview talking about how willing he is to "work with" (work for is more like it) his Republican overlords.

And Reid cites fucking SCALIA as a man to be admired??

What the fuck are they so afraid of???????????

8. In both cases the Democrat had every opportunity to attack and didn't
The formats of both debates allowed the Democrat to challenge the absurd statements by their opponents and neither of them did. Harry particularly was ball-less; just stood there like a blathering idiot as Angle gave him chance after chance to stand up to her nonsense.
