Gingrich Appears to Be Ramping Up For 2012 Run
Edited on Fri Oct-15-10 02:15 PM by NeedleCast
My girlfriend works in sales at a 4-star hotel in Baltimore. She is good friends with a sales manager at the D.C. chain of the same property. Apparently Gingrich is throwing a fancy dinner there. Here's what the GF had to say:

"so, this is really funny... I was just on phone with Mary in DC and she told me about this room block they are holding for an event that Newt Gingrich is having on election night at the Reagan Center. She said it's $5,000/couple or $15,000/table to get in and the invites look like someone created them in Word and printed at home and passed around. It's through some organization called American Solutions. People are flooding the hotel with calls to see if this is even a real event."

HuffPo is also running a story along the same lines.

Looks like the slimy salamandard...I mean Newt, is starting the real fund raising.

Edit to add:

http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-501-9605 That 866 number is apparently the headquarters of the group. People on 800notes.com area all saying that they're getting calls from people at American Solutions offering the same deal.

2. He will make a stand for Family Values!
While screwing around on the side.

I make issue of this because the hypocritical bastard runs on that kind of platform, yet doesn't adhere to any of it himself.

4. Yeah, it's amazing what the Family Values voters are willing to forgive
I've just become numb to it. When it's a liberal who gets caught, they are, of course, immoral bastards. When a Republican gets caught with his/her pants down, then we have to embrace the spirit of forgiveness.

3. Oh, I can't fucking wait.
We'll get to hear about Newt's temper tantrums in the 1990s. He's McCain redux.

5. He's cashing in on his name, just like The Quitter.

He hopes to make some money by fleecing the suckers who want to be seen with him.

I'm sure he knows he has the chances of a snowball in hell.

7. Yeah, maybe at one point he was a threat but he's too far out there now
I think he and Palin will both run in the primary and end up cancelling each other out as they both garner about the same amount of Teahadist/ultra-conservative voters.

His front group appears to be cold-calling rich businessmen offering them "(State X) buisnessman of the year" awards if they fork over the 5K.

9. Indeed
The Newt is making a bit of a mockery out of the "if at first you don't succeed, try, try again" concept.

10. Palin will beat Gingrich and that slob Barbour like rented mules. She is the leader of their party
and the base loves her. Gingrich has that history of walking out on his wife while she was in the hospital with cancer. All that Palin has to do is mention that once and he's done with his "campaign".

12. I disagree
While the Teahadists have the backing of Faux news, I know few moderate conservatives and even fewer independants who would vote for Palin. Her negatives are huge overall and bad even among Republicans. As much as I'd like to see a Palin vs Obama debate, I doubt I'll ever get to see one.

If Palin and Newt both run, I think they'll split the ultra-conservative/Teahadist vote. I think there are plenty of male tea baggers who'd love to play with Palin's boobs but wouldn't vote for her because she's a woman.

20. Mine too!
But, let's not discourage them from running. We want a far-right, tea-bagging moron to get the GOP nomination in 2012.

22. Kind of enjoying the idea of all those right-wing
nitwits and thieves clawing each other half to death in the GOP primaries but sad all the same that one of them will emerge as the nominee.

What a revolting pack of losers generally and Newt Gingrich especially.
