I've seen a lot of posts about attempts at intimidation.............
by RW nutjobs over bumper stickers and the like and it reminded me of the 80s after Reagan was reelected. That was when "liberal" became a dirty word. If you were a leftie, you didn't bring it up.

The problem with that is that nobody gets an alternative viewpoint. We started gaining ground WHEN WE STARTED SPEAKING UP!

That's why we're facing the attempts at intimidation now. When we talk, we make progress and the RW KNOWS it. That's why they HAVE to shut us up. Otherwise they lose. That's why they won't shut this leftist up.

2. No, but I think that the viciousness of it today...........
is BECAUSE of the success we had when we started speaking up. That's why they're desperate to shut us up. As I said, when we DO stand up, we make progress BECAUSE we make sense.

4. Oh, I agree. And I have always been that way...............
even during the Reagan years. Of course, being a socialist I was USED to being out of the mainstream, so it didn't bother me like it did some.

My point has always been that people need an alternative or they just go along with what appears to be the "popular" positions. We HAVE to provide that alternative.

5. K&R
I could not agree more. When we speak our minds, it gives others who feel the same way as we do the courage to speak up too. The Republicans are deathly afraid of that. The courage of more and more liberal people to speak up against the Republicans' sick, twisted, demented, backasswards world view means their draconian control freak monopoly on the public will become a thing of the past and they know it.
