BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!! Sestak Just Locked PA, Bank On It! |

Edited on Fri Oct-15-10 09:32 PM by Beetwasher
The Sestak campaign put out a new ad today, and it's not quite like any other one I've ever seen. And it gives the phrase "Friday News Dump" a whole new meaning! --snip-- http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2010/10/15/910736/-Sestak-Gives-Friday-News-Dump-A-Whole-New-Meaning-(-PA-Sen-)

Sorry for the caps but could you include SOME info on what a person can expect when they click on your link??
Just posting a link without ANY info at all other than 'SESTAK!!1111!111", isn't helpful. Many people are on dialup, and many are wary of clicking on a link without a LOT of compelling evidence.
Help us out. Please.

Michael Steele did it here in Maryland, claiming that his opponent (Ben Cardin) would go so negative on Steele that he'd claim that he hated puppies. Including a shot with his Boston Terrier. Cardin didn't need to go negative on Steele. Steele opened his mouth, and the voters of Maryland stopped laughing long enough to vote for Cardin.

74. I know that's right. We didn't fall for Steele's shit like he pulled in 2004... |
|
Posing as a Democrat; lying about how black Democratic leaders supported him; he and Ehrlich going to Philly and hiring poor, homeless blacks to campaign in Baltimore, telling voters that Election Day was on a Wednesday; lying about being pelted with Oreo cookies at an NAACP event at Howard University. The list goes on and on. Cardin ran a very respectable campaign. I've been especially proud of him!

Hardly a lock. There may be an upset, the polls may have gotten it wrong but calling it a LOCK is hyperbole.

I haven't watched the video, but I do remember my history. FDR gave a hilarious--and devastating--rebuttal to Republican claims that the Navy sent out a destroyer to retrieve Fala after he'd been left behind during an FDR sea trip. I hope that Belle has the same effect on Sestak's opponent Toomey as Fala had on Thomas Dewey.

Like I said, implied is better -
Not a close up shot of the bag with the poo in it flung "in my face" ... it made me feel physically sick - and no, I don't think I'm the only one who was disgusted by that.
He could have gotten the connection, appealed to the same people who LIKE the ad, and NOT offended/grossed out/sickened a percentage - albeit probably small - of those who saw it.

How does pointing out that the man is way friggin' behind in the polls mean I want him to lose? And why is declaring him to be a "lock" that we can "bank" on some kind of virtue? Self-delusion is not a progressive value.
But as I told the OP, I'll be the first to castigate myself in a crow-eating thread if Sestak wins.

I might be wrong, but I believe it's just NOT helpful here! Maybe for the DU audience, but not far beyond us! All we can hope for is Toomey to lower himself in his ads, as opposed to "classing it up" and making Sestak look petty and "dirty"!
