Why are gas prices so high with the elections nigh? |
|
Where is the consumer outrage? Do you remember in times past the gas prices plummeting before elections to keep the voters in a subdued mood?
I say they fear the wrath of organized consumers. I say that is why the SC-5 (who should stand trial for treason for creating the corporate overlord of government) allowed the corporations to donate secretly because they fear the wrath that consumers have.
This (our small pile of money)is about all we got. We have to over vote by about 5-10% just to barely win. Then the lobbyists bribe the guy/gal we just elected. So we still have our small amount of dollars which when multiplied can clobber a few corporations strategically.

3. Gas prices around my area are stable |
|
They have remained the same since Obama took office. There are days they go up 2 cents but a few days later they go down. I can't relate to your post.

4. What is remarkable is how low gas stayed through the summer. |
|
What is remarkable was how shockingly low the price of gas stayed over the summer. Historically gas starts the summer climb May through June. Not only did gas prices stabilize at that time, through out the normal summer peak gas prices slipped.
Now, there are people here that can point out all the factors on why this summers gas prices worked differently than every summer of my driving life, but I can't help but think the BP spill had nothing to do with it. Big oil looking for good PR and poof, we have declining gas prices (pennies a week) all summer long. Quite a coincidence.
I was expecting prices to go up though. Two factors. In my state of VA we run a 10% ethanol mixture gasoline starting in fall and BP got that gaping hole in the gulf firmly plugged.
