OK. is anyone here actually UNDECIDED about how to vote on November 2?
Is anyone still unsure they want Democrats to retain control of the congress and various governorships and state elections, at least as much as we possibly can?

If not, why all the concern for the media lies about how we are sure to lose?

Why not save that energy to GOTV, to support ANY Democrat you see sho needs a little help, to do what ever you can, no matter how limited, to win?

Would you rather whine for the next several years about the Democratic Party's failure while the 'publicans come back to destroy OUR country?

I don't wan't to hear about "voting out of fear" - if we don't vote for Democrats, the GOP will win, it's that simple.

Is that what ANYONE HERE really wants?

2. I am.
I can't decide whether I want to drop off my ballot at one of the drop off points or whether to mail it in.

6. I'm undecided.
Should I just mark the Straight Democratic Ticket box, or should I go down the list & vote for every Democrat individually?

I guess I'll just wait until election day to make up my mind.

20. Go down the list
Make the machine that counts your vote do some work.

If you mark the 'Straight' box, it only has to send one signal to make all your votes go to the R side.

23. Believe it or not, I actually don't think that happens in our little
rural polling place. The vote counts are always pretty close to what I would expect, knowing the place. And it generally tilts left.

As the 80 year-oldmatron of our local Party said, "This place is no hotbed of liberalism, but it is sort of a warmbed."

7. I'm 95% decided.
Oh, I'm decided on the bigger contests (like Governor, Senate, US Rep, etc.) and the state Props.

It's the local school board and utility council rep seats I've yet to decide.

8. The idea of RW 'publicans on the school board is REALLY terrifying...
and they love that office around here.

No wonder kids don't learn - the school boards are loaded with 'publicans!

21. That used to be how I felt

Until I started to realize that people like O'Donnell start out small and get name recognition and then go way farther than they should because people give them the chance and the publicity...

There would have to be something seriously wrong with a Democrat for me to vote for a Republican even on a local level. I am open to voting for Greens and Independents.

24. Oh, I've never voted Repuke, and never will.
Edited on Sat Oct-16-10 11:39 PM by 4lbs
However, many times I'm deciding between local candidates whose party affiliation isn't quite obvious. For those, it doesn't say "Democrat", "Republican", "Green", "American Independent". Instead, we get "Parent", "Business Manager", "Volunteer", etc., thus it's not too clear.

So, I have to go by their statements about what they believe in and what they plan to do.

Ultimately, if known Progressives in my area, like Bob Filner, or Barbara Boxer, endorse a local candidate, than that's almost an automatic for me.

28. Gotcha.
We have similar stuff, and for some posts parties are mentioned and there are some I'd never heard of. Once I almost voted for a lunatic because the name of his party sounded good. Luckily I checked it out before i voted.

With the number of votes we're supposed to cast, it's impossible to have a good knowledge of every candidate.

11. Still not sure who gets my vote for Coroner.
There's like six candidates.

I've already ruled one out who says he's "pro-life" on his signs, though having a pro-life coroner would be kinda funny.

We don't do that here. Though we do get to vote for the transit administrator.

Pro-life coroner is kind of an oxymoron IMHO.

and I can't understand anybody who would vote against their own interest and vote for republicans. We know tea bags and radical republicans are bat shit crazy and will do so, but average every day Americans why would they.

15. NO ! Democrat control of the Senate will stop the Tea Baggers in
their tracks. Congressional Republicans will be able to do nothing, with John Boehner in charge.

I doubt we can win the House, but I only have one vote for one incumbent, I can't control those fools in other states.

Of course, Democrat is the ONLY way to vote, any educated person knows this, the Republicans appeal is to the stupid and the fearful.

Unfortunately, there's too many stupid in America, most of them vote for Republicans.

29. Me too. I'm voting based on platform, not party.
Anti-war, pro-teacher/pro-education, pro-gay, pro-union = my vote. If you're a Democrat and you're not those things you're not getting my vote.

26. No, but I'm a DUer, so you don't have to worry about me.
I'm not real thrilled with the Connecticut AG Dem candidate... his campaign commercial has him bragging about banning assault weapons. Which means either he's stupid enough to think that the ban did something useful, or he's banking on the stupidity of the electorate to think that.

But with the mortgage crisis elevating, we need a Dem in that office to kick some bankers ass. I don't trust a Repube on that issue. Or any other issue, come to that.

Blumenthal as senator and Malloy as governor works well enough for me. I'm not going for Linda McMahon, that's for sure.

27. Waiting to try to extract
some info. on candidates in the many judge contests, which are supposedly "non-partisan." This is a challenging task, as apparently they view other attorneys as their only constituents, and try to say as little as possible about either their backgrounds or their philosophies.

Still, it's amazing what sometimes turns up. Last spring, there were at least two judge candidates on the ballot who'd been repeatedly charged with domestic violence.

Other than that, it's a straight party ticket for me this time.
