I simply do not believe that the Republicans are that united or enthused as portrayed in the media.

I do believe the Party in power tends to lose seats in the midterm elections.

I believe that the Democrats that are most discouraged are probably progressives but I believe most of them will vote.

I do not believe the moderate Democrats or the first-time voters for Obama in the last election are that unhappy with his job.

My beliefs do not compute with what I hear over the television.

Am I the only person experiencing this "disconnect"?

2. No you are not the only one.
For example, Rachel Maddow has done excellent well-researched reporting on the divisions in the Republican party. I know her stories are solid and real. Yet other media outlets don't bother to push behind the RNC/GOP talking points.

4. I operate on the basis that anything that comes from the MSM is essentially a lie
or spin at the very least.

The status-quo narrative is the Big Lie.

6. I agree the GOP are not all warm and fuzzy. However, they do
have an uncanny ability to march lockstep if it means
winning. Whatever, their tactics, they manage to always
look organized and together when it counts.

7. Do you want the blue pill or the red pill?
How far do you really want to go down the rabbit hole? Those that have not been unplugged are potential right wingers. It has been that way for a while now. You are not the only one. The media is the gatekeeper. But you know the saying; keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

I think once this election is over, we should start a movement for full disclosure of any group getting any tax benefits, and a movement for truth in news. Those that are in entertainment should have to disclose this fact just like an astrologer. Those churches, pac's, and any group getting tax dollars or tax credits should have to disclose all donations and contributions. Together these would go a long way in weeding out the corruption and brain washing. At one time the FCC regulated truth in news, and those that told lies had to retract and were fined.

8. For-profit media is a terrible source of information
And since that's pretty much all we have, I just try to keep that in mind.

11. The best alternative is listener supported radio
I lend my support to WBAI and KPFK because they have truly informative programs on issues that matter. Commercial media could do the same thing but it's harder to make it entertaining trying to tell the audience something they might not want to hear.
To reach the average citizen, I think the best bet is low power FM station buildup. The cost might be a little high for an individual but a local group could raise the funds for start up.

9. I realize people are disillusioned, but not to the point of voting in the same Party that caused
this calamity in the first place.Sharon Angle? Christine O'Donnell? They're fucking cartoon characters, not legislators. I fear we are being sold 'The Great Enthusiasm Gap' as cover for another massive theft.

10. Oh Hell, I've been living in Matrix world most of my life.
Sometimes I think I must be crazy cause most of what I see and hear is just bullshit. When you look at things from the point of view that we exist on this little blue dot in an unimaginably vast universe and you realize that in the overall scheme of things we are simply irrelevant, it's very hard to give the war on X-mas much credence. Same applies to religion, sports teams, Paris Hilton and all the rest of the pop culture crap our corporate masters try to brainwash us with.

And yes, almost EVERYTHING the corporate media tells you is a lie. About the only information they usually don't lie about is how many points the Giants or the 9ers won or lost by.

13.  the media is free to create, mold and disseminate the news as they see fit. no rules.

there is no criteria for 'news'

there is no standard for 'truth'

when news is for profit, all bets are off.

Why is nothing made of that by the media?

17. I grew up in Mexico and everyone there knew the PRI party controlled the media
We found out the real stories through word of mouth because when the media doesn't supply the truth there naturally develops an underground source of news. So it's not hard to realize the US media has become the propaganda arm of the Republicans. It's disappointing because I remember when we were given the straight story here in the US. But it isn't a big surprise or hard to believe when you've experienced it before.

I don't believe anything I hear on the nooz because it isn't the nooz anymore. It's someone's slant or spin on the nooz. I will start to believe it when the facts are repeated by many sources who are not affiliated with each other.
