Jesse Ventura says what every weak a$$ democrat should be saying about Palin
Jesse Ventura: Sarah Palin Is 'A Quitter,' 'Unqualified'

Former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura had harsh words for his fellow former Governor Sarah Palin recently, when he called her an"unqualified" "quitter" who had "screwed the people of Alaska."

Talking to Fancast, the one-time professional wrestler and Independent-turned-conspiracy-theorist said that Sarah Palin was the reason he couldn't get behind the Tea Party movement.

"Anybody that would put Sarah Palin to the top of their list will never get me," Ventura told Fancast about the former vice presidential candidate. "She's a quitter...She quit in the middle of her term. That's the contract you have with the voters."

Ventura was then asked about his opinions about her political career before she decided to resign the governorship last summer:

"I felt she was completely unqualified. I had more qualifications than she did. I had served as a mayor of a town of 60,000 - hers was 10,000. I had served as governor for two years when everybody wanted me to run for president in 2000, and I said I'm not prepared to be the president. I haven't even completed office as a governor yet. Now, she never completed her office as governor. She didn't even get two years in hardly! And she quit to get money. Jesus, how do people not see that! She saw greener pastures, said, Screw the people of Alaska, and went on to collect.

5. I heard his interview on Pete Dominick's show
He's got good sensible views on many issues: end DADT, pro-marriage equality, end the wars, end the war on drugs, pro-choice, against the Patriot Act and other Big Brother measures taken in the name of the War on Terrorism.

But yet a lot of liberals still dislike him because he does not put up with victimology and My Dog Ate my Homework excuse makers.

56. Liberals in Minnesota would beg to differ
Ventura can take his share of the credit for some of the financial problems Minnesota is having now. Cutting vehicle license fees (based on vehicle value in MN & guess who owned several expensive ones?) hasn't helped our roads. And, deciding the surplus (aka the rainy day fund) the state had should be returned to the taxpayers because it "belonged to everyone" wasn't the brightest idea. (Why is it deficits never belong to everyone?)

10. Ventura used fame to be governor / Palin used governor to have fame
Palin does not want to be president. She wants private jets, huge speaking fees, groupies, paparazzi, reality TV shows and the like. She may or may not get herself elected but that would not be to make the world a better place. It would be to have more attention, paparazzi and moolah.

23. Not at all
Jesse Ventura was already fairly famous because of his wrestling career when he decided to use that fame to try to make what he saw as an improvement in people's lives. I often do not agree with his ideas of how to go about making life better for people but there's no denying the man is/was sincere in his political aspirations. I have an odd kind of affection and admiration for Jesse "The body" Ventura. Yes he has ambition, yes, he runs after the media attention on a regular basis, but never seen him in it ONLY to enrich his own wallet.

Palin on the other hand doesn't give a damn about anyone. I doubt she even gives a shit about Tawd. She uses her own kids as props fer god's sakes. She'll play out her 15 minutes for as long as she can and rake in as many millions as people are stupid enough to give her. She left Karen Handel in Georgia with nearly $100,000 in expenses. I doubt Palin meant Handel any harm - in fact, I doubt Palin bothers her little empty head with such mundane realities of life. I have so little respect for Palin that her political views are meaningless to me. If I had to choose who had the emptiest head between Sarah Palin, Paris Hilton or most of the guests on Jerry Springer it would be a tough choice - but the Jerry Springer bunch would probably come out ahead.

29. Plus the fact that she always reminds me of those "mean girls" in high school
that made fun of my boyfriend because he was a nerd and of me because my folks couldn't afford to buy me Jordache jeans (FYI for you youngsters, the hip, expensive brand at the time). Not to mention her voice, dear God, her voice. Is it just me, or does her voice sound like the screeeeeechhhh of zombie claws on blackboard? The Valley Girl vacuousness she no doubt displayed in youth has carried well into adulthood. BTW, has anyone seen and heard that video of her taken about 15 years ago when she was speaking in a more modulated voice during a stump of some kind? No folksy cadence, no "ya betchas!" no faux attempts at Grand Ol' Opry speak. Just a slow, deliberate tone in a hard-to-place regional accent like she knew she was stupid and didn't want to trip over her own tongue. I know I've said it before on DU, but I can't get over it: she matches Stephen King's stupid-smart, but deadly politician Greg Stillman to a tee. And Stephen King himself admitted it in a Salon interview. "Greg Stillman in skirts," he called her.

67. I think this is true. Whether some don't find her attractive, I think it's an objective thing...
she is attractive. Her bone structure, her figure (almost perfect), her almond shaped eyes, healthy thick shiny hair, her facial features are symmetrical, she's youngish, thickish lips, etc., etc. (Hey, I'm a straight woman, and even I noticed!) I think it's an objective thing...she is attractive. Republicans DO like their women sexy. Remember Hee Haw? Practically pornographic, and yet it was on during prime time, and was geared toward middle aged, fat, white, southern (Republican) men. Dole, O'Donnell, Hutchison (when she was younger), etc., etc.

If Palin were 50 and 20 pounds overweight, with a crooked nose, squinty eyes, a nasal voice, and fat thighs, we would not even know who she is, because she would never have been picked to be McCain's running mate. And she would never have been elected governor of Alaska.

has a new TV show, 'Conspiracy Theories.' I think that's what it's called. It's on TruTV (ugh) on Friday nights at 10:00. At least it is a totally different viewpoint from the other crap on TV.

And since 'Now' and 'Bill Moyers' are gone from PBS on Friday...this helps me with my withdrawal symptoms.

IT'S A TV SHOW! It's entertainment!

The show examines conspiracy theories. That does't necessarily mean that Jesse automatically buys into them. That show blew out all it's conpetition (which may have been easy to do, admittedly) and broke all of truTV's viewing records. It's a job for Ventura. He's also an accomplished author.

46. Jesse has a lot of sense. I was pleasantly surprised by him.
He asks lots of questions. I think he has a right to ask questions about events in our history (starting with the Lincoln assassination) and whether there are cover-ups. We know the U.S. and the CIA have been involved in lots of questionable assassinations & coups & seizures of land (Hawaii, the Philipines, Cuba, Central and South America and Iran, even sent troops to Russia in 1918) and suspicious plane crashes.

I think we have to ask questions of our government to do our duty as citizens, and see what falls out.

He seems to consult with smart people on policy. I like a lot of his positions on things. And if he's in favor of universal health care, I can go for that!

God, I'm with Ventura on that one.

Palin said she quit the governorship because she could have more political influence by... giving up her political office. Then she immediately started collecting fat paychecks on the lecture circuit.

Her absurd excuse for quitting, and subsequent rush for bucks just floated right through our media and lodged into the heads of her dim-witted supporters, who seem incapable of analyzing it.

65. Gotta love him. He really gets to the heart of things...he has a way with words,
and talking straight.

But to be fair, he's not running for anything, so he's more free to say what he really thinks about things and people. (Not that that would make a difference with most of the Dems in office these days. Just what the heck happened to their spines?)

68. He's saying what every fucking Democrat should be saying.
He's not even a Democrat and he's speaking out against those tea party idiots.

69. Palin is the only thing keeping him out of the Teabagger Party.
Think about that for a minute before canonizing the guy.

71. The "Ventura" TeaParty would not be anything like this
Edited on Mon Oct-18-10 06:08 AM by SmileyRose
Ventura's history is fiscally responsible government that works for the masses rather than the few and socially liberal. I disagree with him often on how to best serve Americans but Ventura you can have a conversation with and negotiate differences in good faith. If he were the driving force behind the TeaParty instead of RushHannityInc it would not resemble anything that it is today.

Edit for typos.
