I know that O'Donnell is, but I don't know how many others are (for that matter, is that the opinion of Sarah Palin as well?). In any case, even one is too many as far as I'm concerned.

In any case, I came across an old Carl Sagan video today that I've not seen before. An entire segment regarding Johannes Kepler; the final quote really struck me as a pretty decent summation of the way things SHOULD be as opposed to the Idiotocracy we seem to be heading towards.

"When he found that his long cherished beliefs did not agree with the most precise observations, he accepted the uncomfortable facts. He preferred the hard truth, to his dearest illusions."

The video is definitely worth a look-see, although I realize I'm largely preaching to the choir here (one prominent right-wing forum current has a "hot topic" discussing how O'Donnell is right about the Theory of Evolution being a myth. :banghead: )

ON EDIT...I stupidly left out the final, poignant message from Carl Sagan..."THAT, is the heart, of science"

The very fact that idiot politicians are on the rise looking actively to bring about a new Dark Age should scare any rational person who's paying attention.

1. My church is doing "The Truth Project"
for Sunday School study. I am preparing to attend. My wife is not happy - she does not want me to make waves (the teacher's family has been friends with her family for almost fifty years).

I am still waiting for my daughter to get exposed to evolution in middle school Science. She had a good section from North Dakota Center for Distance Education this summer for a course I had her do to avoid taking 7th grade Science (which is essentially the first half of Life Science). In her 8th grade class they are supposed to do the second half of Life Science. I was told by the 7th grade teacher that evolution was done in 8th grade (this was part of the preparation process to determine content for testing out of the 7th grade class). So far no evidence it is going to be done - still waiting.

2. All of them.
Whether they know it or not is another matter.

4. Not for nothing but...only one rec for a post largely about Carl Sagan!?
Seriously...am I missing something here!?

My other post about complaining about Holder and MJ got some 15 recs or so.

(no, I'm not "into" recs or anything, I just think the sage advice of Carl Sagan is worth a hundred or two recommendations...that's just my humble opinion of course!)

And if this is something to be unrecced, I'd REALLY love to know why...
