Minnesota Paper endorses Tarryl Clark over Bachmann
Edited on Sun Oct-17-10 08:08 AM by wellstone dem
The St. Cloud Times, a paper from a city in the most western (furthest from Minneapolis) part of the district:

BACHMANN ISN'T SERVING DISTRICT'S BEST INTERESTS

"...Come Nov. 2, voters should replace her with Tarryl Clark.

Regular Our View readers shouldn’t be surprised by this endorsement. This board in April of 2009 wrote off Bachmann’s desire to serve the voters who elect her.

We cited then three years worth of her rash, ridiculous, unsubstantiated, misleading and fear-mongering statements about national issues. We also noted — and this is important — her lack of any realistic solutions. In the 19 months since then, Bachmann has only refined an age-old political recipe: mix equal parts of fear and blame that raise your personal profile yet yield only sound bites, not solutions.

She does it so effectively (and relentlessly) that she’s become a grass-roots tea party heroine even while supporting a public policy agenda that helps entities that are anything but grass roots. Best example: In the wake of America’s financial collapse, do you really think Bachmann’s push to leave Wall Street alone was in the best interests of 6th District voters?..."

both republican denny hastert and democrat foster has given over 6 million to my city for a river front project and a transportation center near the ronald reagan tollway...

5. It's a very uphill battle ...
.. for Tarryl, as awesome as she is, there are still a lot Teabagging fools in our district. One of the mail problems is that facts don't mean a thing to Teabaggers, so the fact that Bachmann is batshit crazy and has never done a thing to help our district doesn't even register with them.

6. When doorknocking for her yesterday
I was trying to identify Clark voters from a list of independents. My favorite door was the guy who said, "Bachmann is giving women a bad name." Overall, of the people who answered, it seemed like there were quite a few people who honestly hadn't made up their mind. Which is surprising given the contrast between the two candidates.

7. According to what Tarryl said..
... Thurs (I think) on Ed Schultz, was that she's down by about 10 points, but as unreliable as we all know "polling" is, maybe it's closer. I sure hope so. I got some time to talk with Tarryl one on one, and was quite impressed with just how sharp and focused she is. It would be great news indeed, if she were to knock off the Crazy Lady.

25. Think 'honestly hadn't made up their minds' didn't want to SAY
either that they've switched from before, OR 'She's batshit crazy???' (Optimist here! THANKS for what you do!)

15. She has a gerrymandered district with all the RW nuts.
Edited on Sun Oct-17-10 03:31 PM by Odin2005
Most of our nuts are in central Minnesota in a line along I-94 from the outer suburbs of the Twin Cities to Alexandria., and also stretching up into Lakes Country where all the rich people and their expensive lake homes are.

11. An email discussing the endorsement and the newspaper it comes from
"I just read this and wanted to share it with you! The St. Cloud Times, the largest daily newspaper in Minnesota's 6th District, today endorsed Tarryl Clark for Congress. This conservative-leaning paper is widely read in the district, and their endorsement means a great deal. They know what you know - Michele Bachmann is serving the special interests, not her constituents. And as the newspaper that knows Tarryl the best, they know that Tarryl will be on OUR side in Congress.
Read it for yourself here or read it below, and if you can, make a contribution to help keep our momentum going!

-Carrie"

27. I am as well
Although I feel pretty pessimistic after Tinklenburg. I did what I could this time, though. Even if we loose a lot of seats, if we could take that one, that would be a bit of salve to the soul.

20. I appreciate the fact
that there are a LOT of close races where dangerous ninnys are challenging or being challenged by decent people. But this MN is number 1 on my radar because Bachmann seriously needs to go. She's a rabid, poisonous freak who gets tons of face time on teevee. So I'm gonna send Ms. Clark some more money even though I'm not in her district. It will be a pleasure. That St. Cloud endorsement was wonderful - it really piled on Bachmann which always needs doin'.

K&R

Bachmann is such an idiot. One would think that even ardent Republicans would reconsider their support. Unfortunately they have bought into the crazy.
