Australia's Prime Minister Julia Gillard an atheist

June 29th, 2010 4:09 pm PT.

The new Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard is an atheist. Yesterday on Australian TV Gillard told a national audience that she does not believe in God.

While appearing on ABC's Jon Faine program yesterday, Faine asked Gillard: "Do you believe in God?"

Gillard replied: "No, I don't Jon, I'm not a religious person".

Gillard claims she will not try to court the Christian vote by pretending to have faith. “I am not going to pretend a faith I don’t feel.”

3. I don't understand why it should matter.
It isn't as if belief makes you a better person or more ethical.

6. Believers are taught that they are more ethical than non believers.
In their world, morals and ethics come from god and god only.

8. I know they are taught to believe they are superior.
That don't make it so, tho'! I've been cheated and lied to and abused by more xtians because I was raised in the culture and rejected the whole concept in kindergarten. No regrets and no trouble shaking the whole thing off. I ain't afraid of no ghost, heavenly or otherwise.

4. I hope I live long enough to see a day
when candidates for elected office see no need to bow & scrape before some born-again taliban.
