I see the media is in full "abandon your Dem party....everyone else is" mode.

Nearly two years after putting Obama in the White House, one-quarter of those who voted for the Democrat are defecting to the GOP or considering voting against the party in power this fall. Just half of them say they definitely will show up Nov. 2, according to an Associated Press-Knowledge Networks poll released two weeks before Obama's first midterm elections.

Grasping to keep control of Congress, Democratic leaders are turning their backs on some of their staunchest supporters in the House and propping up stronger candidates who have routinely defied them on health care, climate change and other major issues.

In the first example, it was a clearly worded article to the Dems to "abandon all hope". In the second example it was as if the stupid masses don't understand that political strategy exists during an election year, "even the WH is against the correct choises....don't you hate them for everything they do and stand for?" Anyone can tell, that the strategy at this point is to keeps Dem #'s...that's all. It's barely about specific platform issues. Get those in there that are and can be persuaded to vote Dem since it's very clear how 100% of the Reps have been voting.

It certainly feels like they are still pushing the enthsiasm gap meme with all they've got. In the first article there was this little gem buried along the way: "The important thing is to hold onto as many seats as you can. It doesn't have anything to do with how they voted -- this is pure politics, and both parties play it exactly the same way," Frost said.

All I can say is, "well, duh".

1. That's Liz Sidoti for you.
I started ignoring her back during the 08 election.

2. It's to be expected, especially since the Dems abandoned the progressives long ago.
Really now, just how enthused do you expect people to be when the people they elected have not just failed to support progressive issues, but have gone on to berate and belittle liberals?

3. 76 percent of Obama voters say they will support the Democrat in their House district
Specific numbers from the cited poll don't quite match Sidoti's "spin" -

_76 percent of Obama voters say they will support the Democrat in their House district, while 8 percent plan to back the Republican and the rest (16%) are undecided.

_71 percent of McCain voters say they will vote for the Republican in their House district, while 9 percent plan to get behind Democrats and 20 percent haven't chosen a candidate.

4. The media reports are BS. The only poll that matters is Nove 2nd.
The ONLY thing that matters at this point is getting voters to the polls on November 2nd.

You can help do that.

Volunteer down at Democratic HQ. They need people to make phone calls, knock on doors, compile lists of local events, do data entry, etc.

Help others get their early ballots in case they can't get out on election day.

Get a yard sign.

Talk to your cousin/nephew/aunt etc.

We need to focus on this or the next two years of DU will be not about how to improve the country, but about limiting damage.

thanks,

Scuba
