Tea Party in congress: tissue or pop corn?
I personally am not going to cry if a majority of Americans in certain districts and States send a teabagger to Washington.

If they are stupid enough to do that, so be it. Democracy has its squirks. Granted, what is democratic in a system which allows millions of dollars to be flown into a political campaign for non-stop wall-to-wall negative advertising, and with little to no room for public, polite and intelligent debates.

I am not going to cry over the very poor performance of the democrats. The poor performance in mostly in regards to how they communicated. How Obama bungled quite a few things. How he should have shut up sometimes, or formulated things differently.

But in this era of corporate power, there's not much a man of his stature can do if these major corporations do not agree with the gameplan.

We know what will happen next. The republicans will not do better than the democrats. The teabaggers are going to be hated for being so stupid, stubborn and will probably for the most part be angry when whoever put them there tells them what to say and do. Not realizing that they are pawns and tools.

I am not going to cry over the stupidity of this situation. I am just going to make myself a bowl of pop corn and enjoy the show.

1. So you are conceding to boatloads of money before the votes are counted just for some popcorn?

6. What can I do? With my $35 donations and my straight D ticket in a red State?
Edited on Sun Oct-17-10 06:41 PM by AzNick
Even if I make a comfortable living considering what most people make nowadays, I am not a millionaire and can't buy myself a congressman I can then manipulate to get pork and contracts in return.

I did what I could do with my little donations to Obama, Glassman (running against Kyl), Goddard (against Brewer) and even Alan Grayson.

My wife and I mailed our straight D tickets last week. We have no illusions. Maybe Penny Kotterman, running for SOPI, has a chance, but that's it.

I engaged in "healthy" discussions with family members who turned against Obama because he did not solve Bush's mess in 2 years and because "he is for the Muslims" (!!!!). Got them to sway a little bit but not too far. They love Brewer. Go figure!

I am not going to lose my sanity or my sleep over this loss, if we lose or not.

I am instead going to watch them tea baggers make fools of themselves and the GOP try to do something. I actually predict the job situation will get worse, with a second dip, and what next? People will wake up again?

Maybe that's what we need if we want Obama to win in 2012.

As for Obama, I am expecting him to realize that his base is not to be mocked, ignored and messed with.

2. If the GOP and TeaParty win, Americans have chosen a tiered
or stratified Society in which you have a small group of
Mega Rich at the top, followed by a group of upperclass followed
by a diminishing middle class and a PERMANENT UNDERCLASS of
Whites, Blacks and Latinos.

You cannot make the safety net smaller and smaller, getting
rid of HealthCare, Medicaid, privatizing SS and keep a middle
class.

You cannot permit Big Business and Wall Street continue
their present practices and keep a Middle Class.

Losing the Middle Class means losing Democracy. Oh yes
that is right. Republicans constantly remind us this
is not a Democracy. It is a Republic. Words have
menaing my friends.

4. If enough of these whack jobs win, we'll spend the next two years...
..fighting to limit the damage. Gains will be lost. The wealthy will further increase their wealth. The numbers of poor will grow.

I anguish for all poor - black, white, latino, asian or other. The numbers of poor is already growing, and the pace of this growth will increase if these few wealthiest can make it so.

We can fight them at the polls.

You can help do that.

Volunteer down at Democratic HQ. They need people to make phone calls, knock on doors, compile lists of local events, do data entry, etc.

Help others get their early ballots in case they can't get out on election day.

Get a yard sign.

Talk to your cousin/nephew/aunt etc.

We need to focus on this or the next two years of DU will be not about how to improve the country, but about limiting damage.

thanks,

Scuba

3. Have you looked at the Teabagger types ....
already in Congress? Bachmann, Foxx, Joe Wilson..add your own here...

Shit, they'll have a Teabag Caucus. No power, of course, but the media will follow them like hounds.
