I really don't know.

Years ago before I used to DU, I used to haunt the Yahoo message boards... It sure ain't the same as DU.

I don't think that I'd have as much fun and meet as many cool people anywhere else than I have during my eight-plus years here.

This really is a unique place and I appreciate it.

I love it here. The community is wonderful, the format is perfection.... I'm grateful for DU every single day, even when I get frustrated with 1) myself, for not being more productive offline :) or 2) the arguing I see sometimes (often?!). It's like watching beloved brothers and sisters fighting. But that's the way progressives are--we don't march in lockstep. Anyway... I can't stand to imagine a life without DU.

Around about the same time I came to DU (early 2001), I was frequenting Mediawhoresonline (MWO), democrats.com, but not really posting anywhere...DU was the first I actually registered for. Seems so long ago (and I guess it actually has been), but I probably would be a lot less sane without that outlet. NOw, it is very convenient to check in to make sure I know most of what is going on in the world... So, no matter how busy I might be, I can at least know something of what is going on.
