The Consequences of Allowing Gays to Serve Openly: Check out the reported incidents clock
Gates: suspending the gay ban
“has enormous consequences for our troops.”

At 2:00pm ET on Tuesday October 12, a federal Judge ordered the military to stop enforcing “don't ask, don't tell”. The Pentagon has announced that it is complying with the order. On Wednesday October 13, Defense Secretary Robert Gates declared that the suspension of the gay ban “has enormous consequences for our troops.”

The next day, the Pentagon stated that disruptions would occur in the short term: “Requiring the Department to cease all enforcement of DADT, immediately and worldwide, will cause significant disruptions to the force in the short term...” The Pentagon also suggested that it has not provided the troops with any training to prepare for the suspension of the ban: “…training programs cannot be provided instantaneously.” Research shows that two thirds of the troops know or suspect they know gay peers in their unit.

Some people just can't handle the truth.

And they claim to be supporters of equal rights for gays!

6. Commanding General in Afghanistan, says court ruling won't have an effect on his troops.

U.S. Afghan General isn't worried!

WASHINGTON — The commanding general for Regional Command East in Afghanistan said Wednesday that the California court ruling won't have an effect on his troops in the war zone.

"Over here our soldiers, probably none of them even know that a judge said something about that," Maj. Gen. John Campbell said during a teleconference briefing.

Campbell said that his troops are "engaged in the fight" and that "they're not worried about the politics of what's going on back in the United States. They're not worried about the politics of 'don't ask, don't tell.'"

Campbell said that his soldiers are busy with "taking care of each other, taking care of their battle buddies, taking care and protecting the Afghan people."

He added: "They follow the law. They treat people with dignity and respect. And if that law is changed, then they will abide by the law."

21. Absolutely
Happened to be in military when racial segregation was ordered ended.
First Sergeant assembled unit. Announced end of racial segregation.
"It's over, any questions? Dismissed." What training does one
need to treat fellow human beings with the same respect one desires
from others?

20. Have any active duty personnel come out during that time?
I would suspect that few, if any, have done so. Everyone knows that this is a temporary thing. Is someone were to do do so now, and higher courts reverse the ruling, those peoples' careers will be ended.
