CNN BREAKING NEWS!!!!! OUAMA BIN LADEN
NATO official: Bin laden, deputy hiding in northwest Pakistan
Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- Osama bin Laden and his deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri are believed to be hiding close to each other in houses in northwest Pakistan, but are not together, a senior NATO official said.
"Nobody in al Qaeda is living in a cave," said the official, who declined to be named because of the sensitivity of the intelligence matters involved.
Rather, al Qaeda's top leadership is believed to be living in relative comfort, protected by locals and some members of the Pakistani intelligence services, the official said.
Pakistan has repeatedly denied protecting members of the al Qaeda leadership.
The official said the general region where bin Laden is likely to have moved around in recent years ranges from the mountainous Chitral area in the far northwest near the Chinese border, to the Kurram Valley which neighbors Afghanistan's Tora Bora, one of the Taliban strongholds during the U.S. invasion in 2001.

7. I fucking hate that station
It's just too over the top, phrases like "Breaking news" have lost all value because they use it for everything.

5. Remember this is Barbara Starr
She's not exactly one of CNN's best reporters. She's the Candy Crowley of their foreign policy coverage.

8. It also jibes with the current Obama policy of further demonizing
. . . the Pakistani government itself. If this is truly actionable intelligence, it is ruined now. But if the goal is to further undermine the reputation of the Pakistani government, it is perfect for that.

11. That's just it, if this was real he's gone now
They don't leak info like that if it's actually credible. Of course that could play into the idea of keeping him on the run, thus the western military presence there remains.

10. If he's there, then why did we leak it? Why not capture/kill him instead of
leaking this intel? I wonder what's going on. Maybe we're trying to flush him out....

15. I see four possible motivations for this release from CNN...
Edited on Mon Oct-18-10 02:37 AM by Parker CA
1. This is old intelligence that is just hitting the news, bin Laden is still dead or long gone, and CNN is throwing it out there bc they think it has weight.

2. This is an attempt for CNN to bring up a story without factual basis to put the terror/evil boogeyman meme into the discourse of an election season in an attempt to make Obama/democrats look bad.

3. The US is attempting to create some chatter or movement amidst the Al Quaeda ranks by completely shooting in the dark and "leaking" to an international news agency that they have info on his whereabouts. If someone surfaces or chatter increases, maybe they're onto something, and if not, nothing is lost.

4. The US is searching for legitimization to go to war with Pakistan.

Claiming these guys are actually hiding out in London, for example, wouldn't be quite so immediately profitable for drone-related financiers.

13. Everything is "Breaking News" on CNN, i.e. Britney Spears shaving her head
Lindsay Lohan farted on Twitter.

iReport because CNN has no journalists.

Wolf Blitzer finally stops eating cheese.

20. And about a month before Bhutto's assassination, she stated in her
Interview with David Frost that everyone in the Far East knew that Bin Laden was already dead.

But the guy needs to be resurrected every so often so the USA can continue our fun and profitable wars.

Death to Osama, perpetually! Long Live BlackWater/Xe, Halliburton, Dyncorp et al.

21. I used to have a link to a Pakistani newspaper article
that was about his funeral. December of 2001 or 2002. Don't remember now.

The link went dead a couple years ago and I deleted it.

But he's dead.

22. It's more than likely some gambit to downplay Jessie Ventura and his logical
Thought process of "where is the indictment"? If he's dead how do u indite? Or if he didn't do it? Most of the hijackers were from Saudi Arabia. We didn't go to war with them. No we flew all the bin ladens out of the country while most Americans were stuck in whatever part of the country they were in due to grounded airliners.
