Chavez heads to Iran on 'diplomatic' tour
Birds of a feather gather together. Good way to slam yankee, running dog capitalist pigs. Good for world peace with these two protectors of the people together again. Less than a year since Hugo welcomed the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with full military 'honors'. What will they be doing?? Solving problems? ** ‎37 years ago yesterday OPEC started the first oil embargo ** .. just saying.... OK, cue predicted response.

1. Well, I'm glad someone is talking to them...
They need help and we need help keeping them from doing something rash, harsh and harmful.

2. What has Iran or Venezuela done to another country recently?
Besides supplying the world with billions of barrels of oil ............... seriously, what harm have they done? Iran's human rights abuses may be better addressed by Chavez than anyone.

5. Yeah, I know that. Which is why I said Chavez may be able to
address their human rights abuses.

As far as either 'country' harming anyone .............. nada. Is there a reason the two shouldn't share diplomacy as every other country in the world has a right to?

7. Quite a lot, actually.
Iran provides active backing and support to various bunches of psychopaths in Iraq, who have killed innumerable people.

Venezuela is almost certainly providing at least tacit collaboration with the FARC.

Do you honestly think that Chavez will be seriously trying to tackle Iranian human rights abuses rather than trying to cement an alliance with Iran based on common hostility to the US?

8. Why is it that everyone with oil has a 'common hostility to the US?'
Edited on Mon Oct-18-10 08:04 AM by polly7
Yes, I seriously think Chavez will be among other things, tackling human rights abuses. As well as forging an alliance to protect themselves from 'anyone' who is, and has in the past ............ collaborated to overthrow democratically elected gov'ts, start coups, etc. Hostility probably isn't the right word. 'Fear', 'learning from history' ... probably better terms. mo.

10. Because when America does those things, it's for the good of the world, dontchaknow....
....... It's not to advance the agenda of corporations (forget what that silly Gen. Smedley Butler said).

And once again, our oil has mysteriously ended up under the soil of another country, clearly the result of some nefarious plot cooked up in Tehran and Caracus. Time to fight them over there !!!! :sarcasm:

12. Saudi Arabia is an obvious counter-example.
And a US record of overthrowing democracies certainly shouldn't worry the Iranian government...

17. Iraqi PM visits Iran amid meddling claims
Baghdad, Iraq (CNN) -- With the political future of Iraq still hanging in the balance, Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, leader of a coalition of powerful Shiite parties backed by Iran, arrived for talks in the Islamic republic Monday.

Al-Maliki's opponent, who leads a more secular coalition, has accused Iran of fomenting unrest in Iraq.

Welcomed by Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on his arrival in Tehran, al-Maliki is meeting senior Iranian officials to discuss various issues of importance for both countries, his office said.

Meanwhile, his challenger, former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, accused Iran of working to destabilize the Middle East in an interview that aired Sunday on CNN's "Fareed Zakaria GPS."
