Vatican: Homer Simpson Is A Catholic

The official newspaper of the Vatican has decided that Homer Simpson is a secret Catholic.

“The Simpsons are among the few TV programmes for children in which Christian faith, religion, and questions about God are recurrent themes.” The family “recites prayers before meals and, in their own peculiar way, believes in the life thereafter”. It quoted an analysis by a Jesuit priest, Father Francesco Occhetta, of a 2005 episode of The Simpsons, The Father, the Son and the Holy Guest Star, which revolved around Catholicism and was aired a few weeks after the death of Pope John Paul II….”Few people know it, and he does everything he can to hide it, but it is true: Homer J Simpson is a Catholic,” insists L’Osservatore Romano.

5. Apparently They Missed The Episode Where Homer And Bart Convert To Catholicism
If Homer were already a Catholic, why did he have to convert, and why did it cause such a huge controversy? Marge actually enlisted the help of Ned Flanders and Rev. Lovejoy to kidnap Homer and "reprogram" him. "The Simpsons" has a pretty clear disdain for ALL religions (maybe "disdain" is too harsh a word, but they do poke a lot of fun at religion), and they clearly don't think much of Catholicism (hence the entire episode cited above, in which Homer and Bart's conversion create a huge controversy).

Besides, didn't the Catholic Church openly condemn "The Simpsons" several years ago for being anti-religion, or was it some OTHER ridiculously ill-informed cult of religious wackos?
