No matter what happens, both House and Senate having a very small majority for either party will NOT give the American people any real chance at bringing forward real legistlation...etc. Nothing will get done, NOTHING!!! It is going to be hell for two years, add the stupid teabag candidates who may win and take office...etc.

Therefore, the only way we can continue to move forward with anything is to elect more Democrats (since there are more there already), should be an easier goal to achieve...Let's get it done!

2. Uh, okay...
But that is on my dream but never going to get list - out of my control.
Like fantasizing what you might do with lottery winnings.
I never buy the ticket.
For dreams only.

4. Very true. One or two more Senate seats would do it.
I think that's possible. There are still a half dozen Republican Senate seats we have a shot at taking this year.

7. Yes, and some of those up for grabs are Republican seats.
I'd say 6 or 7.

8. Yeah, because when Bush completely steamrolled the Constitution
and started two wars over lies and introduced faith-based ... EVERYTHING ... he was working with a much larger majority than what the Dems have had the last two years ...

Wait...

14. I agree
Look at the massive GOP majorities in the House that allowed Ronald Reagan to have his way with the U.S.

11. And here's how...
The ONLY poll that matters is on November 2nd. The rest are either something for the media to report on so they don't have to do any real journalism, or something designed to shape opinion, not measure it.

Now please help make sure we come out first in the real poll.

Volunteer down at Democratic HQ. They need people to make phone calls, knock on doors, make phone calls, compile lists of local events, make phone calls, do data entry, make phone calls, etc.

You don't have to have a persuasive personality to make phone calls. Lots of calls are just to remind Democrats to vote. You can do that!!!

Help others get their early ballots in case they can't get out on election day.

Get a yard sign.

Talk to your cousin/nephew/aunt etc.

We need to focus on this or the next two years of DU will be not about how to improve the country, but about limiting damage.

thanks,

Scuba

13. Exactly! We need *MORE* Democrats, not less.
President Roosevelt had 69 Democratic Senators to usher in the New Deal, thanks to picking up 10 seats in the Nov. 1934 election. In 1936, he got 7 more, for a total of 76 Democrats. (this was when there were only 96 Senators total.)

73rd Congress (1933-1935)

Majority Party: Democrat (59 seats)

Minority Party: Republican (36 seats)

Other Parties: 1 Farmer-Labor

Total Seats: 96
______________________________

74th Congress (1935-1937)

Majority Party: Democrat (69 seats)

Minority Party: Republican (25 seats)

Other Parties: 1 Farmer-Labor; 1 Progressive

Total Seats: 96
_______________________________

75th Congress (1937-1939)

Majority Party: Democrat (76 seats)

Minority Party: Republican (16 seats)

Other Parties: 2 Farmer-Labor; 1 Progressive; 1 Independent

Total Seats: 96

Party Division in the Senate, 1789-Present

After that the numbers go down to 69 in 1939, 66 in 1941, 57 in both 1943 and 1945.

15. Unless we have some definition of "Democrat", that doesn't help much.
If anyone can call themselves a Democrat and get elected, then the right-wingers will just move into our party, take over, and proceed to implement the right-wing agenda under a different brand name.

The solution is not more Democrats. The solution is more LIBERALS.
