If the tea party had really wanted to change America they would have embraced all of us. Not just "real Americans". The tea party just seems to be a group that wants the Rs to be even more ruthless than they are and cut every entitlement to the middle class and the poor. Especially the poor. However they do not seem to mind the corporate welfare that is shoveled out thru Congress and until a group really seriously addresses these issues then I guess we're stuck dancing with the ones that brung us. http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2010/10/my-other-problem-with-the-tea-party.html

2. The reason the Tea Party was started... |

...and was funded, in part, by the Koch Brothers--is because the powers that be need manufactured distraction to steal our democracy and convert it into a Fascist institution run by corporations and bought-off politicians.
United we stand. Divided--they can hijack our democracy--while we stand around arguing with the tea partiers.
As long as Americans are convinced that the problem is other Americans-- we are politically hobbled and distracted. We forget that the real enemy and the real problem--is the corrupt politicians and the greedy corporations who have stolen our government.
They need us divided. They need us distracted. They need a big, shiny object on which to keep us focused--while they run in and out of the back door--taking all of the loot with them.
It's the Koch Brothers funding these tea parties--and if you listen to right-wing radio--it's out-of-this-world eerie. They all have the same talking points. Every single one of them. This is no accident. Those manufacturing this "divided America" are on the same page, and they disseminate the disinformation, lies and extreme fear in concert.
Have you listened to Glenn Beck? He's got theories about Progressives that stem back to Woodrow Wilson. He's got loads of theories, history lessons and connections made on his chalkboard. Beck tells his listeners that they've got the inside scoop, and aren't they oh-so smart for knowing all of this "inside info" that most average people just don't understand. Beck gets his listeners and their egos invested in believing this stuff is true. As of now---because of this bunk--American's aren't even speaking the same language. Beck has convinced them that Progressives want Eugenics and will be rounding up right-wingers soon.
This is not an accident. It's not the insane ramblings of a dry drunk. It's orchestrated distraction. A mad parade of insanity manufactured for one purpose-- to divide all of us.
And they are succeeding.

Following the ass-kicking the GOTB took in '06 and '08 the party leaders and big money knew they had a shit "brand". And they still do. The corruption and criminality of the booooosh regime destroyed the party's image and many of their "strategists" said that the party needed to be re-branded. The first attempt was naming Mickey Steele to run the RNC...thinking they could play their "race" card to nulify the popularity of the new President. Instead they found that racist was their ticket and to mask it in a teabag...to generate a faux populism by using their corporate media. And to use something the rushpublicans have done for decades...the big lie. Say a lie enough times and people will believe it. It will make people vote against their best interests. We're seeing it in action this year.
The teabaggers were an invention of Dick Armey and his K street pals that found common cause with the Paulbots (or so they think). It's an uneasy alliance that is sure to break into the open after the election no matter who wins.
