I like Jack Conway.

Many weak-kneed Democrats were quick to jump on him when there are several ads out there that are just as bad or worse.

It's encouraging to see a Democrat stand his ground. Maybe he won't win this election but he is a young man with a spine and his future is far from over. If you want to see what is wrong with the Democratic Party, look at the folks that criticize him. If they think the Republicans would not run the very same ad if the shoe was on the other foot, they are foolish.

The Republicans can do ads like this because they are expected to do ads like this but Democrats are supposed to be better. They are not permitted to get down and dirty like the Repubs. Well, I call bullshit. I like what Jack Conway said and I think he should stick with his guns.

He finally got that fraud - not even a Kentuckian - Rand Paul, the atheist, out of his Ayn Rand closet. Good for you, Jack Conway!

3. You Don't Bring A Knife...
I'm amused with the two camps reacting negatively to AG Conway's attack. There's those who are afraid to rattle the christians and those who hate them. The McCaskils see the GOTB as the "religious" party and is afraid to rattle them as if it were to remind voters that somehow the tolerance many Democrats have for many religions, not just one, as some liability. Then there are those who think this is some kind of religious "litmus" test (like Tweety) who would look the other way and even say it's "fine" for a rushpublican to attack a Democrat about faith but it can't be used the other way around. Then there are those who think any mention of religion in politics is wrong. By and large I'm of agreement as I destest how the GOTB has coopted the "morality" thing while being total hypocrites, but I'm not from that area. Kentucky is bible-belt land and like it or not there are many voters who look at a person's faith as qualifications to be an elected official. Conway was well within bounds in pointing out Paulbot Jr.'s past and his obvious contempt for religion as a character issue. Ya don't think if the shoe were on the other foot Paulbot Jr. would have held back using it? And I have a bridge to sell you.

So much of today's politics are perception...and in the closing weeks of a campaign they become ones that could affect the middle 5% or so that make a difference in such a close race. Those tactics may not work in Missouri or New York, but Conway has lived in Kentucky all his life and has won statewide office...I trust his political instincts more than some talking head in a DC teevee studio.
