<[Canadian Ambassador>] Doer reminded Ms. Angle that far from being a threat, Canada is a major contributor to the prosperity in her state, with more than 1.3 million Canadians visiting Nevada in 2009, creating tens of thousands of jobs. The trade between Canada and Nevada in the same year totalled more than $1.3-billion.

1.3 million Canadians in one year is a lot, given that there are only 33 million Canadians. Reid should be using this in his ads - Angle is bad for business & jobs in a state that relies so heavily on tourism.

Anyway, you'd be in "good" company:

Republican Newt Gingrich also had to apologize to the Canadian ambassador in 2005 for making the same claim.

Is there any truth to what she said about the US-Canadian border being more "porous" than the US-Mexico border? Or is that a silly question, given the source?
