Prosecutor considering pressing charges against Alaska Dispatch editor!
Fulton said he arrested Hopfinger for trespassing and assault. He said he had the right to arrest him for trespass because the campaign had rented the space from the school district and had the right to exclude anyone, though the district said it rented the cafeteria, stage and parking lot, not the hall where the arrest took place.

When the police arrived, they freed Hopfinger and let him go after taking statements. Anchorage Municipal Prosecutor Al Patterson said Monday he expects to decide today whether to charge Hopfinger.

2. I will be very surprised if the APD brings charges against Hopfinger
given all the facts that we know. Miller was not required to provide security, as he stated, and even if he was, the security firm did not have a valid license and the the soldiers who were moonlighting as security guards may not have had the approval of their chain of command. If anyone has a claim here, I would say it's Hopfinger.

I guess the APD has to say they're considering it since Fulton brought a complaint, but if charges are brought there will be a huge, huge outcry from the community. I don't see it happening.

3. Really?? It looked to me like the Blackwater wannabees
should be the ones who should be charged with false arrest.

6. I should think Hopfinger has a good lawsuit against the campaign for kidnapping
and I'd bring in/sue the city if they side with the campaign.

7. It has just been reported on Shannyn Moore's show
that the APD has declined to prosecute Tony Hopfinger -- as I knew they would.

9. Insurance? WTH?
Joe Miller's militia loving security goon may have lied about reason he "arrested" journalist at town hall. Really, are any of you even remotely surprised?

The officer said:
"Fulton told me that he needed me to complete the arrest for his insurance," Rein wrote. "I told him that I would not be taking action based on insurance.
