Republican political strategist Roger Stone was absent from a party in his honor on Monday night at The Daily Caller’s D.C. office because he was with his client, New York gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino (R), who had a debate.

But Stone was still a hot topic among many of the journalists at the party.

Stone had been invited to be the guest of honor at the laid-back get-together thrown by Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson, an old friend of Stone’s, who learned that Stone would be in town and wanted to do something for him.

But on Monday, just hours before the event, the New York Post reported that a former girlfriend of Stone’s had filed a police report in late 2009 alleging that Stone assaulted her.
