WOO HOO! Top story in my local paper: Sestak gains in Senate race
Polls show Democrat inching ahead of Toomey as vote nears
Wednesday, October 20, 2010
By Daniel Malloy, Post-Gazette Washington Bureau

PHILADELPHIA -- As the two contenders for Pennsylvania's open U.S. Senate seat take the stage to debate here tonight, there may be a new leader for the first time.

A new survey released Tuesday by Public Policy Polling shows Democrat Joe Sestak ahead of Republican Pat Toomey, 46 percent to 45 percent. A second poll released Tuesday night showed an even greater advantage for Mr. Sestak. An Allentown Morning Call/Muhlenberg College Tracker poll showed the Mr. Sestak leading Mr. Toomey 44 percent to 41 percent with 15 percent undecided.

Democrats released internal polls last week showing a tight race, but these were the first public independent poll showing Mr. Sestak leading in a contest Mr. Toomey has led consistently since the general election campaign began.

In August, a Public Policy poll showed Mr. Toomey with a 45-36 lead on his Democratic rival, a second-term congressman from Delaware County and former Navy admiral. At that point, Mr. Toomey and conservative allies had been airing television ads almost unopposed for months.

1. It's nice to see a factual story after all of the "Democrats are going to lose"
hoopla by the media.

Sestak has faced a huge uphill battle because of all of the corporate and RNC money being thrown toward Toomey. There were months of anti-Sestak ads aired before Sestak had a single commercial on the air.

2. I have a hunch all the RNC ad's may backfire on them
I know here in TN they run one ad right after another, viewers are angry.

4. The local morning news is unwatchable because of all of the right-wing ads.
The RNC and their corporate masters are also pouring money into the race for Murtha's seat as well as the governor's race.

5. I love the Sestak ads (at least the one I've seen in our
conservative TV coverage). We get the Altoona/Johnstown stations for local news. I hardly ever watch the stations, but we get the CW station from Pgh. and those ads are great :-).

6. Mirror image of the Sestak v Specter primary race...
Sestak will take this with a confortable margin. These pollsters are not reliable as far as I'm concerned. Voters are not THIS affected by ads, although Toomey did have a big jump on Sestak in that regard.

He( Toomey) was just rounding up the Repub voters that weren't going to vote D anyway, the rightwing is all a tither in red county PA where I reside but these areas don't sway the elections. Pittsburgh/Philly areas do, and Toomey will not make any inroads in the west side of the state since Stetak is a rep. from that area.... Philly just needs to GOTV
