Who was that person opposite Robert Reich this morning on "Talk of the Nation?" |
|
I caught part of it on my way home this morning in the car. I didn't get the guy's name but he is one of these people who seems to think that the wealthy have no obligation to those upon whose labor they have amassed their wealth. The real kick in the teeth was that this guy was arguing that the debt of the nation and maintenance of infrastructure, including education, is the obligation of the middle class and that, if you are poor, tough crunchies...go somewhere and die, essentially. He said that within three sentences that America is at once a "rich nation" and "not a rich nation." He got his, goddammit.
I kept thinking that if we can't out buy them in elections and we can't effectively have strikes anymore because we PRODUCE NOTHING except customer services in this nation now and our legislators won't fairly get revenues from them, perhaps we can remove the breaks that these "businesses" get locally on their use of infrastructure. I know the argument that comes behind that too...they will move elsewhere. Well they've already moved large portions of their production elsewhere. Better yet... quit providing services to their gated communities.
Who was that clown?

who believe that they did it all by themselves. Yet, if they did not have the labor force, society and government to work through they would probably be eaten by hyenas with a week.
