Thomas’s Ex: Anita Hill Was Accurate
http://www.thedailybeast.com/cheat-sheet/item/thomasrsquos-ex-anita-hill-was-accurate/dj-vu-/

It seems that, by asking Anita Hill for an apology, Clarence Thomas’s wife Virginia has opened the lid on the whole controversy once again: Lillian McEwen, who dated Thomas from 1979 through the mid 1980s, tells The Washington Post that "The Clarence I know was certainly capable not only of doing the things that Anita Hill said he did, but it would be totally consistent with the way he lived his personal life then.” McEwen is writing her memoirs but has never before publicly discussed her relationship with Thomas. Virginia Thomas also has a history of leaving unsolicited voicemails: She called a Washignton Post reporter who wrote an article about a man falsely accused of being a sex pervert, saying it reminded her of her husband’s ordeal; and she defended David Brock after he renounced a book he wrote attacking Anita Hill, saying that no one deserved the smears he was being tarred with.

Read it at The Washington Post

11. him & Scam-y'all Scalito, yes.
Democrats had ample reason to filibuster both Thomas & Alito. Neither is qualified for any judicial appointment, much less the Supreme Court. The fact that Dem's caved on these nominations will haunt us for decades, I fear.

32. This should be a stunning example of the GOP politicizing the Court and its disastrous results
They made it possible to steal the 2000 election...thus Bush and his fucked up decisions....

3. I'm glad this is getting aired out.
This Anita Hill thing, for me, was where the conservatives first flexed their muscle. It would be great to set the record straight.

5. Agree that putting a sexual pervert on the SC was a "coup" for the right wing ....
and it gave them the ability to pull off Bush vs Gore --

but the coup on JFK and our people's government was when they first came out

into the open to "flex their muscle."

Of course, right wing have always been involved in political violence --

but the last 60 years have been out in the open political violence with almost

no response by our government. The little response that began to the JFK assassination

and the CIA were quickly shut down -- and those Senators/Reps in Congress who were part

of it, quickly targeted by right wing -- including by GOPs/NRA.

6. Sorry but what I remember most about the hearings and I watched every minute of it -
was Senator Biden's management of it. He made it into a wrestling match between Clarence and Anita. He framed it as if they were both vying for the same job. For that, I will never respect or like Joe Biden.

And as for those conservatives - Specter and Simpson were the most memorable. Specter was later accepted into the Democratic party and Simpson was appointed by Obama to the catfood commission. What does that tell you about Democrats these days?

7. Did anybody notice who Lillian McEwen worked for?
A brief perusal of Judge McEwen's career indicates to me that not only did Joe Biden know Anita Hill was telling the truth, he didn't care.

21. I could never figure it out.

I know he suppressed witnesses and his staff and the FBI did their best to scare them off.

I just thought it boiled down to the fact the biggest baddest boys club in the world, the U.S. Senate, was just doing what they had always done. It was a contest and they beat back the women.

Fist bump.

Towel snap.

My d*ck is bigger than yours.

Tee-Hee-Hee - we won.

Also, from having worked briefly on The Hill and from years and years of speaking with female friends that remained on The Hill - sexual harassment was (and I assume still is) routine and the elected officials and staff members who commit said crime still don't think it is a crime. It is just the spoils of their office.

Edit: Do you know if there is a connection between Biden and William Mellon Scaife?

25. I think he wanted to run for President again, and wanted the exposure
of being 'fair.' He acted like a judge, more than a Senator, and he really influenced what evidence was presented.

28. Interesting - you could be right.
Perhaps both of our theories have merit. Guess we will never know.

Glad that Ginnie made the phone call - lots of people who were not paying attention at the time will now be able to get beyond Anita is "a little bit slutty and a little bit nutty". Or was it the other way around?

Speaking of that - I need to run over to Media Matters to see what David has to say about Thomas given that he coined the phrase while being paid by Scaife and writing for The American Spectator.

Way to bring the fact that your husband, CLARENCE THOMAS, IS TOTALLY A SEXUAL HARASSER back into the headlines, Ginni. I'm sure he appreciates it.

31. Could she really be stupid enough to think her voice mail wouldn't have national repercussions?
Such a mover-shaker political person as herself? Did she really think AH would jump at the chance to make friends without making a public issue of it?

Something--I don't know what--is not right with this whole, weird picture.

23. ALL it would take is for one of those photocopies to surface
if I were Anita Hill or one of the other three women I would never have thrown it away. I don't forget and I would think that someday I could make use of it. If comparisons were made to the photocopies they would have found the truth. but the problem was with the Democrats also. It was a "boys club" back then and they all went with Thomas over the women.

I think that the other women - which includes two republicans - should make statements to the press. Ginni Thomas thought that since they all jumped on her husbands band wagon back then, everybody would take his side now. It is a different climate now. The Democrats know just how common republicans are they aren't going to sweep any revelations under the rug. I would hope he gets so embarrassed he won't show his face in public the rest of his common ass life.
