So NOW Rove calls Teabaggers "unsophisticated?" |
|
From Raw Story: Former top Bush adviser Karl Rove told a European publication that the Tea Party movement is "not sophisticated" and lacks the coherency and intelligence of prior right-wing uprisings in the United States.
Rove is pulling a fast one when he calls the Teabaggers idiots. This is way too orchestrated, and too well-timed. Don't believe it. Two weeks before the election? Luntz and Bush's brain want us to let down our guard and think there's dissent in the ranks. Don't fall for it. It's an act. They are all in the same boat, and Karl Rove is Rosemary's baby.

2. He's right. What started as a populist movement was co-opted by dolts |
|
'Unsophisticated' doesn't begin to cover it. Circus clowns at this point
But they knew this would happen

3. Notice where he said it |
|
A "European publication," which means that Rove's pronouncement can be and will be safely ignored on this side of the Atlantic. At least until a couple of things happen: (A) the Tea Baggers prove themselves so unsophisticated that; (2) the Republican landslide/tidal wave/tsunami/insert favorite natural disaster here/earthquake/typhoon fails to materialize in November. At which point, these comments will be dredged back up from the Memory Hole and the "Rove is a Genius" tapes can be played again.

5. That did not escape my attention--he said it to a German publication |
|
But in the internet age, you say it in Timbuktu, they'll know it in Sheboygan 14 minutes later.

7. Well, to a bunch of political wonks like us |
|
We notice it, for sure. But this won't dent the popular media narrative unless and until it's opportune to do so. Which won't happen for at least two weeks from now.

8. True, but that's been the case for some time now |
|
Wolf Blitzer and the dumbest political team on television would sooner report on a new flavor at Ben and Jerry's than report something like this.

Rove hates that some of them aren't sticking with his script of:
"It's all Obama's fault"
Some of them are actually seeing the reality that Rove, et al, swindled them.

9. Always one step behind |
|
This is the real Republican legacy of the last decade. They fuck up big time, then when people take away their support, the Republicans take a step back and say "Well that's not what we stand for."
In just 5 years, Republicans have gone from Patriot Act to small government, and from spending trillions on wars to "fiscally responsible."
IT. IS. ALL. BULLSHIT.
And now, in less than 2 years, they've gone from all being in the Tea Party to Karl Rove's the Tea Party movement is "not sophisticated" and lacks coherency and intelligence.
The only thing they haven't budged on is giving all the fucking breaks to the rich and corporations.

10. You're missing the point. |
|
They are unsophisticated. They wear it as a badge of honor. He means it as a compliment. Why, they're just regular folks, you know. Yuk, yuk.
The only thing Rove said that could be interpreted as critical is that they lack coherence (he's right about that too).
Either way, Rove is crazy like a fox.

11. what THat Tea Party way over there? I know very little about it... |
|
but it seems to me that Rove invented (stole the idea for) it, and as Bill Maher put it, a highly successful rebranding of the discredited Republican party into an honest grassroots populist movement (as if)
