And I live in Florida. I know all about bad papers. This one is just downright AWFUL.

2. Please, don't insult toilet paper by comparing it to this.
Toilet paper is our friend and serves a very useful purpose. This paper does not. It simply cannot begin to measure up to toilet paper.

4. What is the circulation of that paper, and why are you even
bothering to read it? I'm sorry, but freedom of the press also includes the freedom to ignore the press. This paper is obviously a right-wing rag. You will not change it. You will not put it out of business. Why even look at it?

Cedar Hill,Desoto,Hutchins,Lancaster,Wilmer,Ferris and Ellis County

I could choose to ignore, and allow the area to devolve,I suppose.

6. What percentage of the population of that area gets this paper?
Odds are that the people who subscribe to that paper are already devolved. Those who don't subscribe don't read it. Since it's impossible to stop a newspaper from publishing whatever it wants to print, I fail to see the utility of giving it credit by bothering with it at all. It's sort of like continuing to visit a racist web site in order to complain about what's on it. It only gives them hits, and does nothing to change its content.

There are right-wing papers like this all over the place. They're marginal, at best. Let them die the death of a lack of readers. They will not change their tune, but can be starved out of existence if nobody pays any attention to them. Tell businesses you patronize that advertise in the paper that you don't like it and tell them you'll go elsewhere. That's about the only thing that's effective.

I'm sure there are some very good papers in the DFW area.

8. Of course not. Write letters to those advertisers and tell them
you will be withholding your patronage as long as they advertise in that paper. Get your friends to do the same. Those companies don't pay any attention to what's in the newspaper unless someone tells them. They aren't reading it.

There are effective techniques for economically starving an ugly little paper like that. It's probably barely surviving as it is. Use those techniques and help put it out of its misery. I realize that you're in Texas, but there must be some people who would join you in boycotting the advertisers. I mean this area is part of the greater DFW area, right?

10. Sometimes that's all you can do. Is there any way for you
to consider moving to a nicer, less right-wing part of that area? I understand that's often impossible, but it's worth considering, maybe.

12. Well, I think that a personals ad in that particular paper
probably wouldn't be very productive.
