Anti-grassley: offensive and embarrassing:
The best defense has always been a strong offense.

Today, we're launching a potentially devastating TV ad aimed at taking down Iowa's (crazy) Republican senator, Chuck Grassley. It could be one of the best ads of 2010.

WATCH THE AD -- AND CONTRIBUTE $5 RIGHT NOW TO KEEP IT ON THE AIR

You remember Grassley from last year's healthcare campaign. He became famous for parroting Sarah Palin and claiming Obama would "pull the plug on Grandma."

But the reality is so much worse. He's become erratic, many of his remarks are sexually-laced and offensive, and in the words of the former Grassley voter featured in the ad -- he's "an embarrassment."

WATCH THE AD -- AND CONTRIBUTE $5 RIGHT NOW TO KEEP IT ON THE AIR

We're partnering with our friends at the Progressive Change Campaign Committee on this powerful new T.V. ad, which Sen. Grassley doesn't want voters to see because it could be a game changer.

In a year when millions are being spent on anonymous, shady, corporate-funded attack ads against Democrats, this is just the opposite: a people-powered ad funded in the light of day solely by people like you. So we really need good people across the nation to chip in -- and forward this email to others.

Grassley's Democratic opponent is proven progressive leader and former Assistant Attorney General for Iowa, Roxanne Conlin. She deserves our help -- and this new ad could put the wind at her back in the final two weeks of the election.

WATCH THE AD -- AND CONTRIBUTE $5 RIGHT NOW TO PUT IT ON THE AIR

Thank you for everything your doing to make sure progressives win.

1. That is true and I told his office so when I called to complain.
It was all the gal could do to keep from hanging up on me, but I felt better when I was done.

It is time for Chuck Grassley to be put out to pasture.

3. Grassley's day is long past.
(or passed, as Ginny Thomas would say).

How he can collect so much in farm subsidies from the government while denying health care to other people amazes me. (Grassley's answer to an Iowan wanting health care like his was, "Get a government job." Seriously. It's on video.)

Anybody with Grassley's overblown sense of entitlement has no business pretending he represents hardworking Iowans.

I really can't afford it but sent $30. (Recently bought several bags of dry beans at the grocery store, so will get by okay.}

I really, really want Grassley GONE, and Roxanne sounds good to me.

6. I contributed a bit.
Can't wait to see this ad on TV! I became a Democrat when Roxanne ran for governor back in the early 80s against--wait for it--Terry Braindead. Yes, I am old.

8. Remember back when Donald Kaul was writing about changing
the State of Iowa motto (he had a column in The Des Moines Register) -- "A State Of Minds" was under consideration at the time, and Kaul wrote, that for a state that had Braindead as Governor, "A State Of Arms and Legs" was more intellectually honest.

The man was funny. Probably still is, wherever he is.

Blessings upon your head, Donald Kaul.
