CA Tax Reform Assoc: Whitman would personally gain $8.2 to $42.2 million w/ end of captial gains tax
The labor-backed California Tax Reform Association said Wednesday that Republican gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman stands to personally gain $8.2 million to $42.2 million over four years if the capital gains tax is eliminated, as she has proposed.

The association reviewed the candidate's financial disclosures, making assumptions about market performance and the value and timing of the former eBay CEO's investment activities.

Whitman, a billionaire, has said that she, like many investors, would benefit from the tax break. But she has said it is almost impossible to estimate by how much.

Whitman said it is wrong to suggest that she is proposing the tax cut to enrich herself, given the fortune she has spent on her campaign.

1. She has to make some of that campaign money back. n/t
At $40 million a year for 4 years, she still wouldn't break even, though.

3. "...it is almost impossible to estimate by how much..."
Looks like it wasn't that impossible. It seemed pretty clear she was in it for Meg, not some fluffy manifestation of the California "dream" for Californians.

4. When a Republican tells you they're going to "do what's best for us all"....
That's when you need to hang onto your wallet more tightly.
